Question for Admin reg Forum Bonus
« on: November 05, 2010, 08:51:12 am »
Regarding monthly Forum bonus, What is the meaning of eligible posts?
If the Forum bonus link says you have 30 "Eligible posts", does it not mean "30 good posts"? (good posts in the sense that can be counted for forum bonus)
My understanding was that if the eligible posts count reach 30, then there is no way to get denied for Bonus. But mine was denied stating that the posts were short. I think I had 35 eligible posts in that month..

Please clarify, so I can have a better understanding. Thanks.

Just use common sense and you won't go wrong. One or two word posts are obviously not going to cut it, but if you get involved in the discussions and relate your opinions in a natural flow, it's pretty simple. I haven't missed a $3 bonus in over a year and I don't even think about it.

good to know that u never missed a $3 in over a year....

And I don't think I was that stupid to post 1 or 2 words and expect a credit.
As far as I remember my posts were 1 or 2 sentences. That's y asking clarification with the admin.

Actually, you did have some short ones. Here are just a few that I found that wouldn't qualify:

Thanks everybody, I got credited
Blockbuster     2010-11-03     $6.00      Approved

got credit
Lifescript     2010-10-27     $0.20      Approved

Not a bad idea

I always make sure I have well over 30 and then I choose three of the best ones to submit as examples.

I'm confused.  If all 30 posts are being verified, why must we pick out 3?  I understand that posts in the contest section are not counted but is that the only one?  How about Off-topic?  I can certainly understand why one or two words would not qualify but the example given that didn't qualify would seem to have contributed to continuing the conversation.  As a fairly new member, I find that particular conversation quite interesting and check it every day.  I would hate for people to stop posting there but that's my current inclination.

sudeepa,
I also looked and noticed you had quite a few posts that were nothing but 'lists' you had copied/pasted from the offers you were approved and credited for. I do not believe those count as a contributory post. If they did, it would be far too easy for anyone to just do nothing BUT post that type of thing for the bonus. If I am wrong, hopefully Admin will see this and clarify. Good luck on getting it this month and I'm betting you will because now you know how. ;)

I am not sure about Off Topic I would imagine its the same as Debate and Discuss and I have submitted posts from D&D and got credit.  I think the overall problem is that people are submitting short one sentence or less posts that didn't require much effort then expecting credit.  I am not sure that all 30 are being verified perhaps its just when the three that are submitted are short or don't have much content that they check the rest of their posts but I could be wrong.  I have never heard that the contest section didn't count either but it might not, I can understand why it wouldn't as most of the posts for promos are pretty short.  I usually shoot for well over the 30 just to be safe and I have never been denied credit yet in the little over a year I have been with FC.

I guess I have a hard time understanding what's so hard? I always have from 60 to 100 without even trying, but maybe it's because I ENJOY being here.

I'm with you on that one oldbuddy.  It's the 8th and I already have 32 posts for the month.  Here are the rules I laid out for myself: post at least 3 a day, I know some days we get busy and can't but you can always make it up another day.  Try to spread yourself out between boards, don't just stick to off topic and debate and discuss - make suggestions and help your colleagues.  Try to start at least 1 or 2 threads a month.  And always pick your best 3.  You get what you put into it, if you really want your $3 then you'll take the time to earn it.

I thought I read somewhere about the contest section not counting for credit but I certainly could be wrong as last month was my first full month here.  I appreciate the clarification from everyone.  I think I have a better understanding now but I guess I'll have to wait and see if my post qualify is good enough for the bonus.

I'm with you and oldbuddy on this one....it's really not that hard to put some thought into meaningful posts. I already have like 26 for November and it is still early in the month. What I really enjoy doing is helping out those with questions (if I have an answer), especially the newbies because I was one too and it's nice to get some help! There are times when I still have questions, so I too try to start a new thread with those questions. Like oldbuddy said, if you really enjoy the forum (which I do), then it should be easy.  :)
