Are you scared of the Doctor?
« on: December 03, 2010, 04:50:04 am »
Are you scared of shots or getting your blood drawn? Are you nervous and get depressed waiting for results? If you go to a hospital do you get a sense of dread?

Are you someone that just does it cause you have to but absolutely hate it?

I am. I hate it but I know I got to do it.

I actually like going to the doctors, getting shots etc. I'm just worried about getting sick[er] from the people who may be waiting also at the doctors office.

Basically, I don't do doctors. Unless I get into excruciating pain. Just like about 4 months ago, I suffered with 3 absessed teeth. I fought it with everything I had with ALL NATURAL means. Vitamins, Minerals, Colloidal SIlver, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Transfer Factor Plus. Eating asprin, ALeve and 500 mg. tylenol. Never did get rid of it, just kept it at bay. Got my neighbor to carry me to the ER at Cobb General.

I told the male, who could not even take blood pressure properly, that I am not here for NARCOTICS. I want a shot of toradol for pain, and an antibiotic shot for the abscess and some pills to follow up. He wrote on my chart. Said my blood pressure was over 200.

The ER Dr. was freaking out about the blood pressure. Ordered the nurse to give me a pill, would not let me leave until it came down some. Would not give me a shot of antibiotics, only a scrip for penecillin pills and blood pressure pills and a shot of toradol for pain and some toradol pills.

Went home, took ALL the medicine EXACTLY like I was supposed to for 14 days. Never did get well. Two days later, I am in unbearable pain. Got another neigbor to drive me to the same ER room.  Saw a gay, male physician's assistance. Asked him for a shot of antibiotics, and toradol for pain.

He said NO I can't give you a shot of antibiotics, because there is NO medical protocol for that. I said, look I don't care about that, I have been batteling this for 2 weeks with natural means and then have taken the doctor's medicine for the past 2 weeks and it did not work, I need something stronger. If you are going to give more pills, will you give me something stronger than just penecillin, like amoxocillin or something. He said, you can't afford that.

I stood up, looked right at him, pointed my finger at him, and said, " You kiss my a** and don't you send me no bill."  I walked out and called a cab and came home. Was sent a bill for $748.00. Still laughing about it. Have no intention of paying it.

Two days later, I was hurting so bad and I could bearly talk, and the infection had spread to my lymph glands under my neck. Pains were shooting into my ear and up into my eye area. I could bearly swollow. Was cryting, and called my friend/neighbor and said, I think I am going to have to call 911. She said, I will call them for you.

The ER ambulance came and took me to Smyrna Hospital. Saw a nice female doctor.
She gave me an antibiotic shot and toradol shot for pain, BUT NO pills or anything else to follow up with. DUHHHHH.

SO I loaded up on the aleve, tyleniol and asprin at the drug store. My friend came and picked me up. I got on the internet and ordered 100 Amoxocillin that were 500 mg each. Also rinsed my mouth with warm salt water. Had been on mostly All liquid diet for over 2 monhts. FINALLY I GOT rid of the ABSCESSES. THANK GOD. ALso lost 25 pounds.

I still have the decayed teeth. No pain and no money for a dentist and NO APPRECIATION FOR so called doctors. This incident along with a long line of other BAD experiences has brought me to the conclusion that MOST so called Doctors don't have enough sense to get in out of the da**rain.  Yes they scare me with their stupidity, BIG MEDICAL DEGREE, and the power that they have in this society.

I don't want to submit my health, my life, my body and my freedom to them. BUT y'all go on and get you some drugs, medical test, surgeries and BIG medical bills from the retards.

I am somewhat afraid of that feeling  "What if something is wrong" whenever I go for yearly checkups but I know that its got to be done!

No.  Medical tests and doctors don't scare me.  I have a positive attitude.

I am not scared of going to the doctor.  I am not scared of shots or anxious about test results.  I give myself injections of B12 at least once a week with a 1.5 " needle.  As far as test results, I don't get anxiety about something I cannot control.  I am thankful for the testing.

Doctors don't scare me at all. I know they have a service to perform, and it's in my best interest to utilize their knowledge.

I wouldn't say I'm afraid of the doctors, just don't like modern medicine.  If they were all as open minded as Dr Oz we'd be a lot better off.  We don't get sick for lack of drugs or an excess body parts.  Today's HMO system doesn't give them enough time to listen to the patient, the best diagnostic tool they have.  Then their the pharmaceutical companies... :bs: :BangHead:

To FreePCMoney and any other dental sufferers...  I had an abscess that lasted about two months too.  No insurance, no regular dentist, I dealt with it on my own.  I was taking 800 mgs ibuprofen every three hours.  I was going out of my mind and could feel my blood pressure go up.  I went to my local health food store for something less harmful.  They gave me a remedy called "Fection"  invented by a herbalist from Utah.  I followed the dosage instructions and started improving right away.  A week later and the abscess was gone and hasn't come back.  I swear by the stuff.   :notworthy:(I also used an essential oil mix called "thieves" topically.)

I've been injured bad. I accidentally ripped my spleen open and had it removed, been knocked out with bad concussions, had an EEG + MRI, awful awful sprains to my ankles, and had plenty of shots in my days (I had to get 15 shots at one visit due to my allergies when I was a kid). You know what the only thing that gets me nervous and depressed nowadays? The bill.

Bravo! And yes, don't EVER pay that.

I hate going to the doctor, but it beats the alternative (early death).

I hate going to the Dr. I'm always scared they are going to tell me I have a horrible disease or something fatal. Every time I go my bp goes up! I wish they wouldn't leave  you in the exam room waiting forever and you can hear everyone one in office!

Fear of the Dr is directly related to fear of bad news - and ultimately - fear of death.

The doctors know more than you do, so by all means try and follow what they are doing, but I think it is silly to think you know more than the Dr, especially if the drs are reacing anything close to a consensus.

Why would you - a person with no medical degree at all and probably very little understanding of science research or treating people -think you know more about your health than people who have spent like 30+ years studying and practicing medicine.

There are quacks, but the answer is getting different opinions (if possble), not distrusting doctors (or scientists even) at large. They know more than you do, so don't be stupid and overestimate what you think you know. THEY KNOW BETTER!

yes, I am scared of doctors. Many of them do not care about you. I barely survived the doctors in this area. No one will take a medical malpractice suit. Some doctors will kill you on purpose. I know this from experience.

I am scared of the doctor. When I go, I think that I am just a number to them. Just one patient for them to meet their quota for the day. In and out in 15 mins. so they can get to the next patient. I don't feel like they take their time to do the exam and answer questions. Here's a pill and call if you don't get better.
