I hope that it improves some! With an unemployment rate of 14% here I would hope that things wouldn't get worse. :( We have had a really rough run this downturn. Much worse than it has been for us in the past! Even 9/11 didn't hit us as hard as we have gotten hit this time. I think some of it has to do with the housing problem.

I just don't see anything that makes me think it is getting better.  In our state they are going to raise the unemployment taxes on those companies that laid people off or eliminated positions.  They had to do it to try to figure out how to pay a loan back to the Fed.  The borrowed the money so they could keep paying unemployment to thousands of South Carolinians.  Seems to me like now those companies will have to lay off more people because they won't be able to afford to pay the taxes.

Everybody I talk to seems to be having a hard time.

  as they say its got get worst before it can get better. so lets all hope  it gets better soon. i am planning to go school so i can get into a career i will enjoy. if things dont get better before i get out of school it will be a waste for all my training.  so lets all think, things will get better after awhile.

Anytime I hear a positive report it seems like the next day one comes out that contradicts it.  I just don't see any positive signs in my community or hear about them online.  Everyone I talk to wants people to pray that their husband or wife doesn't lose their job or finds work soon.  I don't ever heard someone saying, oh wow, my husband just got this great job, or I got a nice raise this year.  Very depressing.  That is why I am working together with a bunch of online friends to pool our resources and help each other earn.  There are so many people hurting for income and we figured if we all share our specialties and skills we can create a place where people can learn and earn without a bunch of pressure or hype.  I think it is a great idea and encourage you to do the same.

The economy is beginning to improve.  People are starting to buy homes again.  That is a good sign.

I do not know for sure, It looks like it is starting to, jobs are coming out slowly but it took about 6 to 8 years to get to this point it will take about the same to get back.  I just hope it really gets better soon, I am tired of having to tell me girls NO to anything they want because my bank account is on RED.  tHINGS GOT TO STARTING GETTING BETTER SOON.

I personally don't expect it to. I am on Disability - no raises for I think 3 years now. Reason? Cost of living has not increased - hmmm wonder what world they live in? In my world, the cost of gasoline has increased big time, food is getting more expensive, not to mention the fact that the size of the packages are getting smaller. What is a person to do?  :BangHead:

Although it is difficult to see, the economy is already starting to improve. The recovery will be slow and very uneven. There are signs of hiring but a major difference today versus past recessions, is that people no longer move to where the work is. Many will not walk away from the home they are upside down in.

Hang in there, it will get better.

I think the Economy is getting worse. I have two family members that are getting lower checks because the Premiums on their Health Insurance raised.....why? And the health insurance companies don't really help at all anyways. I am though, have been fortunate enough to find a job online that pays to help my husband out.....I just hope that it can withstand the Economy.  :-[
I think we all just have to see......but with Obama as President....I don't see any changes coming.  :BangHead:

I don't think it is as simple as the economy is improving. I believe certain aspects and disciplines are improving but this is not straight across the board. There are many jobs that will never return and there is a need to train people in the areas that do need more people. The stock market seems to be improving which is a good sign that some people out there have made a transition and are employed again but there are also a lot of people who are still being very conservative with their money. I think this will be another careful year of testing the waters then conserving our money and resources.
