getting married. We need a license to be a doctor or a bus driver, a pilot....etc. With the abuse of children by their own parents hands. Sometimes thrown away in the garbage just after birth. Should there be a law that parents to be or unwed mothers who want to keep the kid need to take a test to have the right to be a parent? The same thing goes for people wanting to adopt  a helpless pet. If you have to train or take a course to receive the rights to be a parent or a pet owner. Do you think it will make people be more responsible & caring towards the child or pet. What do you think, should you be licensed in order to  have the right to be parent or caretaker for your child &/or pet?

I don't know how it is in all states, but in our state you have to get a license for dogs.  As for a license for having children, besides the fact it would not be possible, in my view, to pass such a law, I think it would be going a bit too far.  I wish all prospective parents would be responsible enough to learn how to be good parents.  I do think it would be good to require all parents on public assistance to take parenting courses as well as courses on managing finances.  I think that would be helpful.

Even if a license was required, it wouldn't stop some people from being bad parents. We need a license to drive, people take the test, and pay the money, but it hasn't stopped bad driving.

I think it would be impossible to implement such a law. After all, with or without a license, it would not stop people from partaking in sexual intercourse. Just as being required to have a driver's license has not prevented people from driving without one. Taking courses doesn't mean one will become a good parent. Being a good parent is far more than receiving any form of education on the matter. Just like one can go through school, do well, and graduate but still fall short of becoming successful.

I don't think a license would do any good. A license just means that a person is capable of doing something, doesnt mean they're gonna actually do it right though. I know a few people who have a drivers license and they drive wrecklessly, run stop signs and even drink under the influence at times. They might do what they have to do to get the license then after that they throw all the training that it took to get the license out the window.

 Especially since they're supports by taxpayers.

Amen, and just because a person is on public assistance does not mean they need parenting classes or does that make them bad parents. Life happens. Things beyond our control happen sometimes. The bigger issue is abuse of the system and no accountability starting at the top. Not everyone on public assistance NEEDS it.

Nice idea but unrealistic.  The way people and animals procreate, there is no way to keep up with the paperwork.....
Have a wonderful day!
