Think about what industry you want to be in in 5 or 10 years. Then look for entry level jobs in that field. Bosses are more likely to hire people that are looking to start a career instead of just getting a job.

Are you in school?  If so take advantage of the career center.  The last few jobs I've had I got through craigslist.

My first job was at a sub shop. Easy jobs to get into are usually fast food. They are not the best, but a job is a job. Also, sometimes if you don't write a FULL availiblity (open to close) some companies don't consider you because they want flexible people.

I'm looking for one now. It's not easy. I have to set everything around my roommates schedule. It's worth it though. I do work on the weekends. I'm a sitter at night and it's pretty wild hours but it's all worth it. Saving up!

Just try different retail locations as well as restaurants as a server/busser/host, as those types of jobs don't usually need any experience.

I am in your shoes, alright! I am 19 years old and I have applied over 30+ jobs and not gotten anything yet. And this would be my first job as well.
If this helps, if you have done volunteer work, put that down on your resume/application if you have no experience, because that still counts for experience.
And it's good to have connections. My best friend is helping me apply and she has good connections.
She spoke to her boss one day because she was talking about me, and her boss told her that I could use her boss as a reference. That is really kind of her!
So, knowing someone that can hook you up with a job or some connection would help.

Do not worry, you keep applying until you hear from whoever for an interview. Even without any experience, they can train you for it.
Good luck! :)

First, have a serious talk about you and what you would like to do with your life. List all your likes and dislikes. Then talk to your local high school counselor and see what is available for you in your area.

Thanks I am in a community college and there career center has been no help at all I will do any job I am not being picky at this point. Everytime a job seems like it is going to work out something happens and it falls through. I want to be a teacher I have tried some daycares or summer camps but no luck. I just want a job and will feel so happy when I do I just feel like that day will never come.

I'm 19 too and in the same boat. I haven't had a serious job where I work for any big company, but I've worked independently but only in music. When I was around eight I used to help out in music school while I was a student. This scares me, to have to go search for a job at a mc Donald's or any fast food restaurant. Like someone said earlier here on this topic, know what you want to do and try to find a job that has something to do with that. Good luck!
