How do you deal with a heartache?

I do not get many headaches and I feel sorry for those who suffer from them often. I would just try and rest until it passes.

Don't think of it as a broken heart, its an open heart! Open to new experiences, new love . . .  It does take time to heal, just take each day anew as it comes. Occupy your time, keep busy. It is ok to be sad but not for too long. You may miss out on the next opportunity if you stay sulky for too long!

Do whatever you think will help (without harming yourself of course), but whatever you do, tell yourself that it isn't the end of the world, no matter how hard it seems, it really isn't the end.

Well there is alot of crying and gnashing of teeth lol. No really first I cry till my body hurts from the wracking sobs and then when I can't cry anymore I talk to God about. And if I'm not being utterly self absorbed after awhile I begin thinking Him for everything he has blessed me with and the act of thanking Him gives me peace. I still have to heal, but I'm no longer in crisis mode.

My favorite song that deals with broken heart syndrome is "Unanswered Prayers" by Garth Brooks.  He prayed that God would make this certain woman his wife all these years ago, but it fell through and he was devastated.  Years later he looks at the woman who did become his wife and he thanks God for not answering his prayers so many years ago.  I think many/most people unfortunately go through this scenario one or possibly 2 times(hope not), before finding the one they are looking for.  I'm not sure what your broken heart is from, but hope you find solace in the other posters good advice, time heals all wounds.  Keep on living and trucking on, the busier you are the better you'll be.
