family music bands vs friends that just sing together

You know, I’m a third gen. country music fan and it seems there are less and less family bands but those like Alabama are the only bands to stay together.  I mean what was up with lonestar’s Richie McDonald persuing a solo career?  That’s why I’m grateful for groups like The Band Perry which is two brothers and a sister.   “You Lie” is just awesome.
