IP Address Question
« on: July 17, 2011, 08:19:55 pm »
I may have to move as I am expected to get an offer for a new job away from my hometown.  However, I believe my IP address will change when I relocate and do not want to risk getting banned from this great site. Any suggestions? Is there a way I could contact support and let them know my new IP? This is just precautionary for now but is somewhat likely to happen in the near future. I know gpt sites tend to have strict IP rules and I do not want to get banned.  ???

Sure. Just go to your Account page and click on Support on the menu at the bottom of this page. Then click on 'file a support ticket'.

After a careful review of the Terms of Service which you can also find in the menu at the bottom of this page, I don't think FC has an issue with you moving and logging in from your new IP address. Notifying them beforehand is probably a good idea though, just to be on the safe side.

I am glad that you posted this question as I have wondered the same thing myself.  I am thinking about moving in the next couple of years.  So, I do not have to deal with the problem for now but it is coming down the road.

I have a mac and am with my cable company at home but I also have an IPad and have AT&T 3G with myIPad.   When I last travelled, I logged into FC on my IPad using my AT&T 3G.  I had no problems whatsoever.  However, there were some things that I was not able to do because IPad does not support Adobe Flash.

What if I attempt to complete offers from an apartment with a shared IP address? Will I be notified if this address is already in use? My biggest fear is that I will have hundreds of dollars in my account only to get banned and receive nothing for my efforts. Hopefully the admin is understanding at FC as I am not a cheater.

I just recently moved and am using a different computer and so far haven't had any problems.

Why would you have hundreds of dollars in your account? I suggest cashing out soon after reaching the magic $25.00.  I always wait until the very end of the month after reaching $25.00.

I do  not know about the shared IP address.  That might present a problem.  The best thing for you to do is to open a support ticket and ask administrators.    :dontknow:

A shared IP address will probably cause a problem (not unlike using a public computer).  If anyone else on the shared IP address has an account, you will probably be subject to deletion.

This is an increasing problem.  Many assisted living places have a digital phone system (ie fios) and shared IP addresses.  I was considering one place and when I discovered there was no alternative to the shared IP (the phone line was digital so I couldn't use my dial up connection), I decided to stay where I was.

I hope they eventually do away with that rule about IP addresses. It is outdated, because more and more ISP's are recycling addresses. I think that rule will deter new members from joining, and it makes existing members leery about doing too many offers for fear that their account will get suspended and they will lose all their earnings.

Its true about IP adresses than any hacker can easily jst trick the system and bypass it. I heard about someone well read about a post of someone who got banned and was able to pass the Ip address thing and his back in FC. Their's really no point with the IP address thing but its probably just to keep a track of people.

What about using a laptop or cell to access an account that has been used at home?  I use my account at home only right now, but when I travel I plan to access my account from either a laptop using wifi or my cell or a hotel computer....
wonder if this will cause an issue???  I sure don't want to get banned for trying to keep active on  my account even when I am not home.

 ??? ??? ???

Good question. File a support ticket just to be sure. Why take a chance?

You may file a support ticket if you feel that it will help but it may not mack a difference.

Did you know that most peoples internet connection has a dynamic IP address. This means that it changes. You could have one IP address today and tomorrow it could change. FusionCash is aware of this. I believe that their fraud system goes more by which computer you use. In other words if you use FusionCash on one computer don't use any other FusionCash accounts on that computer.

In other words, don;t worry about it. If you keep your same computer when you move and you have a dynamic IP address you will not be in any trouble.

If you don't know if you have a Static or dynamic IP address below are two ways to find out.

1)Static IP addresses cost a lot of extra money a month, sometimes up to an extra $100 a month. So most likely you will not need that and will have a dynamic IP address. Static IP addresses are usually used for web hosts and Internet networking companies.

2) Go to http://whatismyip.com and see what your IP address is and see if it changes after a while.

Please let me know if you have any more questions. I love computers and the Internet and I know a lot about how it all works!

It also shows your IP address next to each of the posts you make in the forum. I looked at mine and it has changed over three times today.
