Which do you prefer e-book or real book?
« on: August 29, 2011, 09:53:24 am »
While I understand how great it is to have over 500 books at your fingertips, I personally prefer having that old fashioned page turning book in my hand.  I always fear an electronic not working one day and there you go—500 books lost in a split second.  It’s the same way with downloaded stuff like programs and music.  I prefer to have the disc for both.  That way if one day your Ipod or computer crashes you haven’t lost anything.  I’ve had a laptop crash on me and would have been $80 down had I done a downloadable version of my dvd watching program.  I’m so glad I had the disc that now I just reload the program if something like that ever happens again.

I'm going to get a Kindle, that way I can still have it in my hand and I can back my files up online.

I like being able to get any book you want instantly with e-books, but its too hard to read PDFs on my ipod touch or netbook and I like actually physically having a book in my hand to read from.

I prefer to have both but would rather have the book because I get to turn the page.

I havnt had a chance to try an e-book. However, with the information i have collected from observation, research and Q/A, I think e-books are better. 1) Less paper/less use of resources. 2) LIGHTER & LESS SPACE. Especialy while going to school, school e-books become a piece of Heaven. 3) dont lose place. this is really great when riding the bus and along comes a *BUMP*. e-book automatically saves my page! 4)CONVIENIENCE, CONVIENIENCE, CONVIENIENCE. along with above, i dont have to rush to the bookstore during specific schedule. buying books works around my schedule. 5) i dont have to wory about losing my personal library. and i can take it with me any/everywhere...not that i take my book colection with me everywhere.....

With the introduction of the Internet, I do not like real books anymore because they are boring, heavy to carry and other problems. I prefer to read summaries of those books online.

I have no desire for an e book. I spend enough time already on the computer that I want the "easy on the eyes" warmth of a real book.

A real book. I stare at the computer all day at work and really don't want to stare at another screen when I read. Bothers my eyes after a while.

I love reading books off of 4shared.  But I just plain miss the feel of a book in my hands and the satisfaction of really turning the page or putting in my favorite bookmark.
