Coupons.... Is it easy to start your own system in doing it?

Im a mom of 2 boys and hopefully next year try to have more. I live in Brooklyn,ny and want to learn how do they start this whole coupon system of saving? Like I watch the show and to me it looks so easy to cut it all out and write your list. But is there more then that? To really save $500 bucks or more !! Just so lost in how they start this system ....

I've heard about these systems too, but never could find any instructions. I did save a lot of money and when my child was younger, it was great, however, now I don't do it as often...
