thursday's blackout
« on: September 09, 2011, 03:15:57 pm »
did anyone here also experience the major blackout on thursday? I live in San Diego so I went without power but I heard that half of LA, San Diego, Tijuana, and even some parts of Arizona were affected by the power outage.

Fortunately it only lasted  like 5 hours but I kept thinking about all those people who probably really needed power that time you know

No, I live in CO. We didn't have that problem. I hope that the people who have machines that keep them alive have back up power like hospitals do. I could probably get by for a while without power. My in-laws have a chest freezer. Under their food, they have buckets of ice. It serves 2 purposes: a) it helps keep the food frozen during power outages, b) when it melts, they have access to water in case there is something wrong with the water supply also- it might taste a little funny, but nothing is growing in it.

I have two of my dearest friends that live in San Diego and its was pretty rough on both of them. MY one friend is in a wheelchair (electric) and thankfully se was fully charged when it happened or she would of been stuck at school that day.

I have lots of friends in California and Arizona that were hit with this. The 'crazy' thing about it? It was all caused by one male worker! :P

I wonder if he still has a job....

We were without power for three days here on the east coast due to the hurricane a couple of weeks ago. Many of the roads and bridges that were flooded are still not open.

I live in San Luis Obispo, CA (central coast). No one here lost power, thankfully.
