What do you think is a good bedtime for a 5 year old? My daughter has always gone to bed by 9 pm but now I am being told that is too late.

I think when my children were that age I put them to bed at 8.   We would start baths at 7, read some books then it was lights off at 8. If they seemed extra tired some days bedtime was 7:30.  My children have always needed more sleep so I guess it depends on the child.

For my girls was not later than 8:30, but once they started school, since the got up so early then they use to go to bed on their own by 7:30 - 8 without a fuss.

You're lucky If I leave my daughter to sleep when she feel she can be up to 11 and maybe later I suffer to get her to bed between 8 and 8:30 and she stay at bed awake till maybe 9:30 then she sleeps. she is 5 years old and she go to school, she wake up at 7 she ride the bus at 7:50 come back home at 4:50 and she never sleep in her nap time and that's it.

I've always heard that whatever time is okay as long as the kid isn't super tired in the morning/at school.  If they are, then an earlier bedtime it is!
