Tea Party or Wall Street protest
« on: December 11, 2011, 01:39:15 pm »
I read recently that more people sympathize with the tea partiers than with the wall street protesters. Just wondering what people on here think. So, which to you agree with more the Tea Party or the Wall Street protesters.

lol, for I time I was rooting for the street protestors. But they got brutalized and wiped out very fast. And the protestors were doing drugs and other things.

The Tea party are just candidate after election power either for mayor or next year's president. In general I really don't care. They are just people with something to say and a motive.

I believe the Tea Party has the right idea about smaller Federal Government and more local governing. :)

The Wall Street Protesters said it all for me when they said the following on one of their signs:

Dear 1%, We fell asleep for awhile. We just woke up. Sincerely, The 99%

The Tea Party said all they ever needed to say to me when I became aware that  Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann are key members. Scary!

I would really like to know who "sympathizes" with the Tea Party. lol. Any group associated with Sarah Palin is something I would avoid entirely. She has my sympathy she was used for sex appeal in the last election as is still too stupid to realize it...or that they lost. The Wall Street protest got enough sympathy from celebrities, they don't need mine. (just one girls opinion)

I sympathize with the 99% protestors much more than the Tea party.  Although the protesters have done some things that have hurt their cause like spraying people with mace or attacking people as they enter Chase bank. I still believe in their cause and hope there can be some changes made from their demonstrations rather than be judged by the actions of a few people.

The tea party was a more libertarian group similar to ows until it got hijacked by neocons. It just wasn't big enough, and got taken over. OWS is so much bigger that I don't think there is any other single issue they all agree on except for the fact their getting the short end of the stick and they're angry and want something to change. The OWS is simply a bigger and more diverse group of people so its hard to compare it to the tea party. The only reason the OWS seems to receive less sympathy is because fox news hates OWS but loved the tea party once they change it to their side. The OWS is what a real protest is about. It isn't meant to fill an agenda, but just get people to get more people involved.

I can easily find myself agreeing with any group that is for less government and more freedom (tea party).  Likewise, any group that wishes to voluntarily enslave themselves for the illusion of more 'safety' at an exchange for 'freedom' will automatically draw my disgust (OWS).  It is simply that simple of a concept to me that needs no more thought.

The tea Party had the right idea, with smaller government and more personal freedom. That is what the Founding Fathers intened. But they should not have let the Republicans take them over, since both the Republicans and the Democrats are the problem. As for OWS, I can never have sympathy for Communists, which most of them are. If they spent as much time and energy looking for a job to support themselves rather than trying to get the government to take money from the rich and give it to them, this country would be a lot better off. And it's not like there are no jobs. There are plenty of jobs picking crops and doing other manual labor that the illegals were doing, but most Americans are too lazy to actually WORK for a living.

The Tea Party is a protesting movement similar to Occupy Wall Street now!

Why do you say things that are so obviously untrue? The TEA party is not similar to OWS. We actually have a purpose and a set of principles. What are the principles of the OWS people? I've heard many anti-Semitic comments from their members. Is that what they stand for?

A few people here seem to think that the GOP has taken over the TEA party. When did that happen? There are independents, Liberarians, Democrats and Republicans in the group. No everyone agrees on everything, but we certainly aren't neo-cons! We will not be told which "electable" nominee to vote for, which is what happened with McCain.

#OWS is against the entrenced rich, corporate interests that have corrupted this country.  Tea Partiers, for all their talk of "freedom," serve those interests.

Nuff said.

I would be willing to bet that every one of those OWS people would willingly abandon their position to become one of the 1% and you would never hear another peep from them.  They are jealous children crying about the other children's toys and nothing more.  They are slow witted and seem to think that the 1% has taken something from them or the nation.  This is where their limited ability to think for themselves is revealed as anyone with even the most basic knowledge of economics knows that such a thought is preposterous.  The solutions offered up by OWS would only exacerbate the problem, as the only way corporations could corrupt the government is if the government exercises illegal authority over said corporations and thus exposes itself to risk by its own involvement.  If there were no regulations at all placed upon businesses then there could be no corruption as then political influence would not matter, but what do the foolish OWS people want -- more regulation.

I sympathize with the OWS protesters far more than the Tea Party, but I think their loose organization will be their undoing.  They are protesting at the ports in the western US as we speak, which is disrupting the 99% far more than the 1%.  However, I think at the end of the day, both groups really want the same thing - that is, the corruption in Washington gone and corporations really ruling America to stop doing so.

Just to check back in, I actually sympathize more with the Wall Street protestors. The gap between rich and poor has grown too big. Also, I worry less about the size of government than about its competence.
