A TIP TO REDUCE CLUTTER
« on: December 23, 2011, 05:36:15 am »
And I thank whoever taught me this.  If you get the newspaper and when the new one arrives you still have the old one unread sitting on your table, throw it out.  Otherwise they will just keep piling up with the thought that you will read them - if you haven't read it yet it isn't going to happen!

I heard someone say "if it isn't beautiful or useful, you don't need it."

Reminds me of that show hoarders. Once they clean it up man they sure do look like different places.

That could go for a LOT more than the newspaper!

This would work for me if I got the newspaper... or magazines...

I use mine for litter and liner for the dogs, cat, and guinea pigs. :P
At least recycle! Chop it up and throw it the compost heap. Use it to make pots for seeds - just plop them into the ground come spring and have your garden. Origami! Paper mache! Starting fires (not as a hoodlum, we have a wood stove lol). We even wrapped presents in them this year. ;D

And if you want more newspapers or magazines (free) they're out there for the picking up - check out this site to start with:

Clutter must be my middle name.  My junk drawer (aka everything drawer) probably hasn't been looked in in 3 or 4 years.   HMMMMM I wonder if I could just dump it in the garbage without looking in it.  I might have to think about that for a New Year's resolution. :dontknow: :dontknow:

My oldest daughter is an extreme hoarder.  She was living with me for a time and I ended up telling her she had to go or straighten up her act.  She had three children and herself and they all had bags and bags of clothes so, I told her she could keep 3 outfits a piece (for each of the children) that she wanted to give them when they got older and for every one she kept to use for now she would throw out two.  We ended up taking about twenty-five big contractor bags out to goodwill.

Recycle!  Everything should have a space, if it doesn't then it should not be there.  :dontknow: If you did not wear it in the past two years, then you probably wont' wear it next year.  ??? But someone else might! Goodwill and get a receipt to claim on taxes.... ;D

My newspapers sometimes get a day or two behind, but I do read all of them, then they go to recycling.  I have waaaaaaaaaaaaay too many clothes and should get rid of some of them.

About 20 years ago I got the suggestion to "touch" mail, newspapers, whatever once. Read them, take action on them, file them whatever it is you are going to do. Do it once and be done with it. I have found that this works wonderfully! It eliminates piles of anything sitting around. I loved this suggestion and it has made a huge difference in my life. Another suggestion is that if something breaks and you can't repair it in a way that you would still put it out - let it go. We can all keep things for sentimental reasons that sit in boxes in the attic. Get them out or gift them away.  Have a Happy New Year everyone!

I don't get newspapers, and I save all my magazines because I do go back and read back issues. What I have a problem with is mail. I get a ton of it, and I always set it aside to sort later, with the result that every piece of furniture in my bedroom ends up being covered with piles of mail. I've never actually been late with any bills, but I've come pretty close, and I sometimes let magazine subscriptions run out because I forgot to mail in the renewal form. My New years resolution is to get organized and take care of each day's mail as I get it.
