Race & Gender seems to be a big deal for the survey companies
« on: December 23, 2011, 05:55:54 pm »
the surveys especially and over and over in the same survey, they ask for your race, your gender, your status,...your race, your gender, ,...your race, your gender, like the program forgot your previous answers or just wanted to make sure (since it may take 30-90 minutes to complete each survey) that none of that changed since you started. to make sure if you answered caucasion you remain still caucasian or  pacific islander, or whatever the race may be. or to see if you had a sex change since you started.

hopefully the reason i did not get credit for many surveys was not because of how i answered what race i am, or what gender i am.

LOL
No kidding. :P
I mean, I can see wanting to make sure it's a woman when talking about feminine hygiene products or whatever. And I guess the others is for when they're advertising to specific groups... obviously. But still, very funny / annoying I agree.

It is annoying, but I rarely qualify for surveys so I quit taking them.  Some of the repetition is probably checking your consistency.  They want you to give honest answers so they'll try to trip you into revealing the truth, in case you're trying to second guess the demographic group they want answers from.

DICRIMINATION BASED ON RACE, GENDER, RELIGION...

they don't want honest answers. the survey companies clients have products they want to support. in order to convince their sponsors to pay them, the survey companies must tailor the survey results to get the answer they want. the companies who sponsor will be glad to get the results they want to hear, so they pay for more surveys. essentially the survey companies whisper "sweet nothings" in their sponsors ears. aroused by the idea of making more profits (regardless of the info being inaccurarate), they THEMSELVES get addicted to hearing this good news, "people love our new product ideas". so they keep paying. it trickles down to FusionCash and (A BIG MAYBE) a few pennies for you.

to sum up. the survey starts with the desired results already. the objective of the surveys are to weed out member survey takers who are not providing the desired answers.

why they keep asking for your race and gender in the same survey is not really known, yet. but it creates an expression by the survey companies and their affiliate companies that race and gender is a factor in what products their sponsors have or will create for particular races or for a particular gender. the assumption is that all will not be equal as to price, quality and availability. kind of the opposite of what anti-discrimination laws require. just done in such a way that it goes unnoticed.

it is a well-established fact that women get charged more than men for receiving credit, and they get charged higher interest rates. different scoring systems and criteria which is proprietary information makes it effortless for companies, manufacturers, financial institutions,... to discriminate. can't establish discrimination because their scoring and decision-making system is proprietary. women get paid less at jobs than men...non-caucasians follow suit.

by showing your hand that race and gender is so important that you have to ask it a bunch of times in the same survey, you are trying to get the message accross that what you receive from the survey company and their sponsors will vary depending on your race and gender. FusionCash is also opening the door to speculation that they may be discriminating based  on race, gender, religion and a myriad of other factors, as well as their bog-spender sponsors.

I don't know about you guys, but back then, there weren't that much requirements to qualify for a survey. Now days, you're right, race and gender do play a bigger role than they used to be, a few years ago.

The qualifying process has to do with quotas. The people conducting the surveys want a variety of different people to answer, which is why they ask about race, gender, income, location, etc. They don't want the survey to be completed by thousands of people that fit into the same exact lifestyle, because then they can't adjust products or services to meet wide-range opinions.

That being said-- I hate how many times you get asked! It's always been a peeve of mine.

Agree with all of you on the repetitive qualifying questions with surveys. I rarely get to that point though because I am honest about my age and am disqualified up front. There are targeted demographics and unfortunately they don't think old people have any opinions. Their loss.

I think age is part of it too. I hate spending 5+ minutes on a survey or pre survey only to get booted out. I've given up on them. they are a complete waste of my time.

If you're taking a survey the worst thing yu can be is Caucasian!  They're mostly look for minorities.

I don't think they think you don't have opinions.  They may think older folks are brand loyal and don't try new things.  I'm sure the fact that retired people are usually on fixed incomes, but the younger, working folks have more income to spend has a lot to do with it..

People are way over analyzing this topic and getting overly sensitive about something that is just pure demographic you have to qualify for the survey in some way or another and if you do not qualify for a particular survey there are more to try for. RELAX- FC is suppose to be fun and if it isn't your taking it and yourselves way to seriously. It is FREE MONEY with no strings attached were else can you get such a good deal.

The survey will disquailfy you for being dishonest and giving false answers. Be careful and answer truthfully. It also has a bad effect on FC reputation.

A lot of it is to check if you were lying in order to qualify for the survey.  A lot of them just ask it once at the start to see if you qualify, and then at the end to verify the information you submitted earlier.  If you answered honestly, then it isn't going to be a big deal.
