Is anyone here a big Olympic fan? I am and I will go and watch it everyday if I have time in summer.

I also love the Olympics. I'll admit I prefer the Winter Olympics to the summer but that's because I'm amazed by how fast the downhill skiers are going, how high the ski jumpers, how crazy fast the luge and bobsled are.... No such excitement running around a track or swimming across a pool for me. But I do like the gymnastics, and I do watch the swimming, it's just not as exciting as the winter games for me personally.  I do get caught up in the stories they do on individual athletes, and am embarassed by how sucked in I get. I remember a couple of winter Olympics ago getting sucked into this story about a Swedish Biathlete and then she won the first gold for her country and I was crying I was so happy and then I thought, wait a minute here...I'm not Swedish, I don't even like the biathalon (sp), dang, I just got pulled in by the media! LOL I also the like the commercials that come on during the games.

I prefer the summer games over the winter because I have never lived in snow country. I like to see records broken. I like the stories of the athletes too. Let's go USA. :notworthy:

I'm not a die hard Olympic fan.I like to watch the closing and opening ceremonies and a few of the events. I definitely enjoy the summer games more. I follow them more on the internet and news more than I will probably watch. Best to the usa team!!! :peace:

I think the Olympics anywhere are GREAT however, we could have gone when it was in Georgia, but the traffic, cost, hassell was not worth it.

I love the Olympics but can only spare about an hour a day to watch the highlights(which is about about forty five minutes more than I spare for any other television or sporting event)!  I think that the Olympics are a great motivator for all of our young aspiring athletes and serves to show that countries can get together...if for only two weeks.  I would have preferred that the Olympics had been staged in a different country-one where the massiveinflux of capital could do more good. This would be yet another source of greatness that the Olympics could stand for: helping the underprivileged nations of the world combat their financial ills.

I love the Olympics!  It is really such an exciting event that unites the country as a whole.  I am looking forward to seeing Michael Phelps dominate the swimming events once again and the gymnastics event will be enjoyable as well.

I'm not really all that into it. The main thing I'm looking to watch is the football (that's soccer to some people). Sometimes I catch other events if there's nothing else on or I'm not busy. Some of the gymnastics is kinda cool to watch.

I will watch some of it.  There are so many events and I like some of them while others bore me.  Honestly though, I am much more excited that baseball season is in full swing and I would rather watch that.

Since its a sport from all over the world, why not London. It was a pick of the straws and London got the shortest straw. Wonder what country is next? This event generates so much revenue for that country.

I really like the Olympics and try to watch as much as possible. I so admire the athletes, their hard work and dedication is inspirational to me. I especially love watching some one from an unexpected counrty win or do well. Guess I have a soft spot for the underdog.
