MY son
« on: March 16, 2009, 11:35:50 am »
Hi everyone. My name is Dave. MY sons name is Ryan. He is 4 years old. I have another child....my daughter Haley...who is 7. I am a single Dad from upstate NY. My son has congenital glaucoma. We use to go to Dr. Leon Noel in Syracuse and now we go to Louis Pecora. Anyway...my son needs his eye drops (Cosopt AND Xalatan) Well they have generic for each, BUT I am still $26.48 from getting them. My son gets Medicaid, but we left hiw horrible mother a month ago and changes Medicaid info and its now in limbo. When it starts again they will reimburse me, but that does not help right now. If ANYONE can help me i will give you ANY info you need about me or my son. I can pay anything back by Friday when i get paid. I PROMISE. Trust me..i have tried churches..and you have to be a parishoner...hospitals...and they dont GIVE samples of those. I am just TOTALLY stuck. The only way i can see it is if someone can get like a $27.00 GreenDot MoneyPack from a CVS or Rite-Aid. And admin? PLEASE dont delete this. I am very desperate. And everyone? PLEASE dont be mad. Thank you.

Do you have any friends who could loan you the money until your payday?

Just go to some cash advance place which are absolutely everywhere. They'll pay you what your job normally pays, then you pay them back plus a fee when you're paid.

My previous post was somewhat lacking in detail, so I googled 'cash advance'.  This is what Wikipedia has to say on the subject:

Quote
Borrowers visit a payday lending store and secure a small cash loan, with payment due in full at the borrower's next paycheck (usually a two week term). In the United States, finance charges on payday loans are typically in the range of 15 to 30 percent of the amount for the two-week period, which translates to rates ranging from 390 percent to 780 percent when expressed as an annual percentage rate (APR)[1] The borrower writes a postdated check to the lender in the full amount of the loan plus fees. On the maturity date, the borrower is expected to return to the store to repay the loan in person. If the borrower doesn't repay the loan in person, the lender may process the check traditionally or through electronic withdrawal from the borrower's checking account.

I live in South Carolina and these places really are everywhere, sometimes 2 or 3 on one street. So I'd imagine it's the same or worse in a place as crowded as New York. Obviously this isn't something you'd do every month - only when you're desperate for money like yourself.

Usually all of the Dr. Office's wil have samples.  You could call the nurse line, leave a message asking them if you are able to come and pick up some samples to last your son until you are able to fill a prescription.
