You need to have documents from doctors and/or therapists supporting the idea that your messed up.  Sometimes, it is a matter of being patient and persistent.

Have a great day!

This has actually been a huge problem for my mom. It took her nearly seven years to get approved for disability benefits. She clearly couldn't work needing spinal and cervical surgery, but honestly she finally found the right legal team and it worked out.

I don't know how difficult it is to get on it, but it seems that it is easier to get disability than it is to get a job since in June a little over 80,000 people got employed, yet over 85,000 went on social security disability.  I know someone who is on it because he had a doctor say he had ADHD, yet he seems to have enough capability to run around and "spot and get" stuff, so I don't know.
There are only 10 types of people in the world:  those who understand binary, and those who don't.

I am so sorry that it is taking you so long to get approve .   You need to be under a therapist care stating that you are not able to be around a normal work setting because of your illness.   If you just fill out the paper work just with a medical doctor stating your are ill, then you will be denied,  Good luck to you.

Hi,
To qualify for disability, you have to have a medically documented disability.  Also, you must have a form completed by your primary care physician.  I hope that answers your question.

I was told I may qualify for disability because I was born with a birth defect. But I don't think I'd ever actually go for it. I heard from a friend whose dad is on disability it took him 3 years. You have to apply multiple times (I haven't actually done this) and make sure you have all the right documentation.

depends on what you have wrong with you, some get it quickly and others can take years. it seems that mental disabilities get it faster and easier than physical ones.

You need documentation from your primary doctor, specialists, any hospital you may have gone to for treatment, and other documents that they may ask you for. I became sick in December of 2009 and applied for disability in January of 2010 and was denied, I reapplied and was approved in March. I received my first payment June 2010.

The main document that was needed was the statement from my doctors saying that I was not able to return back to work.
