Well for all those people out there that ARE for sure that MERMAIDS dont exist , im jealous that you have been able to come to that conclusion by what?  exploring the entire ocean, and then STATING that it all a HOAX?!?!   OH WAIT, NO BODY HAS EXPLORED THE ENTIRE OCEAN, so noone knows of there being real or not.    with that fact cleared up, i guess now people are claiming that OBAMA would lie about this as well..........    PARANOID.

I am not necessarily saying that mermaids DON'T exist.......
the only things I say HOAX to is the "Mermaids: The Body Found" show being touted as FACT, and
EVERYTHING posted about this on weeklyworldnews.com (and maybe everything else on that site too, but that has nothing to do with the subject at hand).

I'm saying that the Discovery Channel/Animal Planet movie "Mermaids: The Body Found" does not give any proof of this - because it was a TV MOVIE-- (a "mockumentary", or docufiction, as it's been referred to) with ACTORS portraying scientists in it, not real scientists.
This show has aired 3 times now, I believe, and the channel(s) have run a disclaimer stating it was NOT an actual DOCUMENTARY.

I'm saying that the (NON)news tidbit published on the weeklyworldnews.com website is RIDICULOUS, and nothing but COMPLETE HOGWASH!!

They CLAIM that NOAA ("reportedly") published a post on their “Ocean Facts” newsfeed titled “Conclusive Evidence of  the Existence of Aquatic Humanoids.”

That statement IS complete :bs:.
What NOAA actually posted: "THERE IS NO CONCLUSIVE EVIDENCE OF THE EXISTENCE OF AQUATIC HUMANOIDS".
I went to the NOAA Ocean Facts newsfeed.....the only post re: mermaids is the one saying NO EVIDENCE.

As far as your mention of Obama lying about this......there is NO mention of Obama claiming he "met" with the mermaids -
THEY claim he did.  So I can't see where Obama's truthfulness or lack of it has anything to do with it.

Really......how exactly would a HUMAN being MEET an "aquatic humanoid being" that was being held in captivity?
Are these "7 captured mermaids" (or any mermaids?) purported to have the ability to communicate with humans?
So you would then just introduce yourself to them or what?

Why haven't there been numerous claims of sightings, and photos/videos of this "Ocean City Maryland school of mermaids" if this is such a LARGE school of them, as they claim?
I can't imagine how they would NEVER have been seen by ANYONE who would be eager to spread the news about such an extraordinary sight.

No, I'm sorry......I can't see having belief in the existence of mermaids based on ANY of this cra*.

I won't deny any of these things exist, but I won't believe they do exist until I see hard proof. I also can't believe so many people thought that animal planet movie was an actual documentary. Yes it was interesting and entertaining but if footage like that existed do you think animal planet would be the one to break a story like that.

Agreed!! And people have talked about the fact that they didn't know until they saw the disclaimer at the end that it was NOT a documentary (although I'm not sure why the thought didn't occur to them anyway), and are rather perturbed that they didn't make that clearer at the start of the show.  They said they would have still watched it and found it just as entertaining, but as it was they felt almost "duped" by the show's producers.

They DID have a press release online prior to the show airing that said "Editor's Note: This two-hour special is science fiction based on some real events and scientific theory."  (I think I already may have mentioned that... :-[ )

I don't know....I would have a hard time believing it was a factual story if I watched something like this, regardless.

I seen this documentary too, but I still can't believe in them. On TV everything is possible, so it makes it hard for me to believe in them. Like another person said we need hard evedance on this.  ???

OK now I'm starting to wonder if there's something to this story after all.

I just saw this photo:

I think this is some pretty darn convincing evidence!

It's sure got me thinking twice about the existence of mermaids.

Yeah......uh-huh.....Riiiight.

Mermaids are only a fantasy. There's no way that a being was created by God that is half human and half fish.

"gods" are only fantasies.  There's no way that an imaginary egregore created by goat-herders could be any more half-assed.
One can lead a horse to water however, if one holds the horse's head under, that horse will drown.

Recently I just had quite the discussion with my two young nephews.  They saw the "documentary" (I didn't) they are very convinced it's true.  Animal Planet only shows true stuff so it has to be true.  I expressed my doubt but Animal Planet carries much more weight that I do.  Sigh.
