FC toolbar is BS!
« on: August 01, 2012, 02:02:18 pm »
I think I've finally had enough with the toolbar searches locking up. Last month I was only able to search 16 times before they banned me from making any more qualifyed searches. Today, when the toolbar final resets and I'm able to start using it again, it bans me 12 searches in. This is just ridiculous, I was making legitmate searches and I was even waiting 5-10 minutes between each search so it didn't look like was doing it too fast.
I think I'll be uninstalling the toolbar.

I've found out, with the toolbar, it doesn't have to be "I'm not doing it too fast so it can't ban me" kind of thing. Of course you don't have to do it very fast, and your 5-10 mins are actually ideal, but there are other factors; first let's go on with the basics: Do not, and I repeat, do not hit the refresh button (or your browser's back button for that matter), either accidentally or on purpose. Make a search of at least two words, and not short words like "yo yo", more like a 4 letter words like "ying yang" at the minimum. Don't be repetitive, if your first search term is "Keeping up with the Kardashians" and your second one is "Kim Kardashian Boyfriend" it will probably flag you. Try to make them as different as possible; it doesn't have to be completely unrelated, just the wording has to be different. You could search for "Kate Middleton" and a couple of minutes later search for "Duchess of Cambridge" which is very related and is a complete different term search. Just be creative with your searches. I haven't had a bad search term in like forever, and my searches are not time related; sometimes I make consecutive searches, and sometimes I forget about it and let an hour go by without searches. Sometimes I time it so I search every 5 mins. So it isn't really a matter of timing, as much as it is, not being repetitive or brief with your search terms. Hope it helps.

Wow, so sorry to hear you had a terrible story with the toolbar. I, myself, don't even use the toolbar, LOL

I've had really good luck so far with the searches.  I pretty much average five searches a day.  I did have trouble in the beginning.  I always make sure I don't speed through the searches and I also make sure I open the websites and view them as opposed to just going through and searching.  I don't open web pages for all the searches, but maybe 3 or 4 web pages.  Crossing fingers....it's been working very well for me so far.

I haven't been able to make searches in weeks. It always says that I did not perform a qualifying search, which I did. When it gives you the did not perform a qualifying search, click on the learn why and email the freecause site with the issue. I have emailed them in the past and they fixed it. My last email, I did not get a response back, nor was the problem fixed. I am going to email them again and see where I get. Maybe you should email them too. Good Luck. :dontknow:

I'm usually good with my searches just like you described. Now that you mention it though, i think i did press the back button on my browser by accident after i clicked on one of the links. It this is the case then I still think it's ridiculous. I make one little mistake and it shuts down my searches for the rest of the month. What if wanted to click back and go to a different link from something i searched? The whole thing is broken if you ask me.

I think that the monthly reset is not so much "clean slate" as it is "here's another chance, don't mess it up".  If you've had non-natural searching patterns in the past and it detects those same patterns immediately at the start of the month, it's going to clamp down quickly.  I know these measures may feel extreme, but they're the only way that Yahoo allows for paid searching.  (Google doesn't allow any kind of reward for searching, at all, from anyone).

I've been rather fortunate with the searchbar, haven't had to many problems with it. Sometimes it won't count my searches on the bar, but it shows up on my account balance page. I go by that rather than the counter on the toolbar.

The very first few times I installed the FC toolbar (which was many months ago) I had uninstalled it thinking it wasn't worth the trouble also.  (It was slowing my computer down).  I tried re-installing it a few times later again, only to uninstall for similiar issues.
After several months, I re-installed it again and there has been no issues.  I  the FC toolbar so much!!!  It's one of my favorite FC "perks"!!
