Worth watering a garden?
« on: July 17, 2012, 07:56:51 am »
So living here in the Midwest we are experiencing a drought...Is it worth watering our garden to keep it nice or is it cheaper just to go buy what we want from a grocery store?

We really had to cut down out here in Southwestern PA due to the drought. Only water once a day and not for very long.  We are so dry out here, we worry that the "well" will dry up.  We need rain so bad out here, they keep saying we are gonna get rain and it just never seems to make here past Ohio.  They get it and we don't.  And the heat is really bad also. Its been a really hot summer, more so than any I can remember for a long time.

I am here in N.C. and we did get some rain a couple of days ago....Thank the Lord we needed it!   When we are in a drought I usually try to water my garden (just a few tomato and cucumber plants)  in the late evening.

It is hot and dry here in n.m. also. The rains just miss us most of the times. I had to cut down on what i usually grow because of the lack of water. I use to grow way more then i needed and give it away, but i just don't have the water this year and feel badly that i don't have much to share.
