I see those and they give me goosebumps.  Sort of reminds me of that commercial where the guy is turning purple from all the stuff they've given him...lol...

No.  It sounds kind of scary.

I did one for flu vaccine a couple of times and it wasn't a big deal.

When I was in college I did a few for allergy medications.  They were not the inpatient trials where you are stuck in a room for weeks, but were outpatient where I had to check in a few times for blood draws.  Made for cheap allergy medication (as long as it worked for me) plus some extra cash.  If you are considering doing one, only sign up for one where you feel comfortable - with what the medication is for, the procedures you will be required to undergo, the facility where you will need to report to, etc.

No. Don't think think that is a good idea. These days just going to the DR can be a clinical trial.    :angry7:

I don't know if I would even if I had the time. I think it needs to be done and they can pay well. I would want all my bases covered and know that I will be safe and have someone to talk to if there are any issues with whatever I am testing. I stick to consumer testing instead, products or food, I think that is a little better and safer

No, I've never done one and have no desire to do so. To me, it is not worth it because you don't know if there will be any potentially negative side effects or not.

I tried to do an osteoporosis clinical trial when I was 55. I did not know if I had thin bones or not, but I had gone through early menopause at age 33, and after menopause is when a woman's bones will start to thin. Anyway, I had a bone density test, and the researchers told me I had the bone density of a 25 year old, and I couldn't be in the study.

Today I am 65 yrs old and my bone density remains the same as it was then. I take special supplements and I do weight bearing excercise 5 days a week. Both those things keep bones strong.

Yes, I have done a couple.  I did one that required nothing more than a saliva sample and was paid within a week of a ten dollar target gift card in the mail.  I have done the "try our product at home" ones with a new toothbrush and a new hair rinsing cream.  After replying to surveys on those, I got a good number of points with that company which was enough to lead to one survey shy of cashing out, which I got the following morning.  So, yes, if you look carefully, surveys, trials, and focus groups are a GREAT way of making a little extra money at home.

I have never done an actual clinical trial. It seems like a lot of risk to sign up for those trials anyway.

Years ago while doing surveys I did a few for face cream and shampoo and then
after using I took a survey and got paid.

Wasn't a big deal ... I think I will check out the clinical trials here at FC to see
what they are all about.

I am a severe chronic insomniac diagnosed as having Primary Insomnia I. I have done many clinical trials for my insomnia. It was work but I was paid very well. At times, the medication helped but usually it did not. I was sent to a sleep lab which was very difficult for me because I sleep so poorly. I got some decent health care. I made a lot of money. Because of my insomnia, I have not been able to hold a full time job or a professional job. I was paid so well for doing clinical trials that I was able to put away some money, buy a computer, buy some stocks, and travel a little bit. I did maybe 20 clinical trials over a several year period but I am no longer used now that I have gone into my senior years.

I found doing the sleep studies very difficult but the money that I made was very helpful.  ;D
