i think either are great if they are helping you see better, glasses look nice and you dont have to poke yourself in the eyeball with them :)

I loved wearing contacts because I could wear any sunglasses I wished. As I was aging my eyes dried somewhat and no longer can wear them.

It is totally different. I got so used to wearing contacts that wearing glasses gave me massive headaches.  The distance between my eyes and the lens was forcing me to have to focus differently.  My eyes started rejecting contacts (after 20 years) and so I got the laser surgery.  THAT was the best thing I ever did!!!!!  I loved my contacts and wouldn't trade doing only glasses, but if you plan on doing both, be sure to use the glasses at least a little time weekly so your eyes stay used to focusing through them.

I wore glasses when I was younger and kept replacing them every year, so I switched to contacts. Now that I'm a bit older I have switched back to glasses. Less maintenence.

Both are fine, it just depends on your liking and level of convenience.

I prefer glasses.  I've always pictured contacts slipping into my eye socket. :BangHead: :BangHead: :BangHead:

etemon1234 ~ I've used glasses since, getting them in grade school & I've hated them the styles back then didn't help w/mean kids making fun of you in school. College, I used contacts for a while eventually before graduating, I've let go of contacts too much work & they always end up drying up in the case. I was also worried about eye infections. Hated it most when they some times mover around in your eye. One time I almost got into an accident b/c one got lost in my eye & driving was hard w/every thing blurry in front of you. Since than I've stuck w/glasses. My big sis got her eye done w/that Lazic operation, It really helped her eye sight. She still has to were glasses but they're alot thinner than mine now. I'd like to but  I'm scare something might go wrong!

is is okay to wear contact or glasses?

I have worn both throughout my life.

I had glasses when I was a youngster and switched to contacts as a teenager.

Pregnancies changed how my eyes tolerated contacts.

As I have aged, I need bifocals to read.  I wear noline bifocal glasses now.

Which is better?  I think it is personal preference and what your body (eye moisture) allows you to wear comfortably.
Hygiene and maintenance of contacts is going to be important since you are putting something "foreign" in your eye.

It depends on the person. Some can never get used to having something in their eyes. I would prefer wearing glasses myself.

I wore my extended wear too long and now it bothers my eyes when I put contact lenses in.

I have worn contacts for 50+ years.  But now that I have reached Seniordom, my eye doctor tells me that contacts will probably no longer be comfortable when I wear them--something to do with the moisture in your eye as you age.  Oh, well, I guess 50 years was a good long run.  The good news is that when I have my cataract surgery, I'll no longer need glasses -- something to make the prospect of surgery a little more palatable.

They are both nice, as long it helps you see better.

I have worn contacts for 23 years (since I was 10 years old). Never had a contact "dry out in the case"--are you not filling it up with saline solution? I wear contacts 12-16 hours a day, and my glasses for the rest (basically contacts at work, glasses at home). I love contacts, and I have to wear safety glasses at my job all day, so if I wore my glasses, the lenses would need to be replaced quite frequently, whereas the company gives my as many pairs of safety glasses I could ever need.
