Dear Nancy,
The Kindle is better than the Nook.  The Kindle offers a much bigger selection of titles.  I hope that helps.  I have a Kindle.  I love my Kindle!

My wife and I both have Kindles and love them.  One thing to look into would be how many free titles there are through Barnes and Noble (Nook).  I can tell you that there are a good number of the classics that are free downloads for Kindle.  Amazon offers a lot these days and their service seems to always be improving.  In other words, if you think he would use any of Amazon's other services through the Kindle, then there is absolutely no question which is the better buy.  I don't know what the current details are, but for the original kindle fire, Amazon was actually selling them at a slight loss. So you are really getting a good product for the price.

I love my Kindle. When I went to buy I looked at price, books and ease of use. The Kindle does kind of lock you into Amazon for purchases but they do have the most titles and it is super easy to use. Since I bought my whole family even my parents who are not techie at all have bought ones. If he is a reader he will love one

I am looking to buy one for my wife for Christmas. In all categories the kindle seems like it was much better. Just my opinion.

I wouldn't be able to tell you which one is better but I can tell you about Kindle.  I recently bought a Kindle Fire HD and it is a pretty amazing little gadget.  You can buy music, books, games, hook into social media, check e-mail, search the web, play games and do almost anything you can do on a conventional computer.  The only downside I see is if you want to borrow books to read and do certain other things you must purchase a yearly subscription to AMAZON PRIME.  That in itself costs $79.00.  So if I were you I would do a little research before buying a Kindle or Nook.  Just check them out on the web and also be sure to check the "reviews" for each.  Good luck!!!!

Was reading all about these ebook readers. My niece got one. Talked to a retired lady with one, she also uses it to play games. Someone in the forum mentioned downloading the apps. So I did and started reading books on this pc using the apps. Logged into Amazon and got some books for Kindle free. Since I can download the apps, no need for either. I can just purchase a tablet instead. And download any apps plus be able to take it with me to read like a Kindle or Nook.

I have a Kindle app on my tablet and my husband has a Kindle.  We love being able to get our library books whenever it's convenient for us.  Somehow, it goes through Overdrive which seems to be connected to our library and Amazon.  Anyway, I haven't found a book yet that isn't at least available to put on hold.  we're both big fans!

I have not had either one so I can't tell you.  My cousin has one but I don't know what kind it is.  I like reading a real book.  Some of them are worth a lot of money.  Hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday and may God bless each of you and keep you safe.
