When I was in Bangkok six weeks ago, there was this really skinny man outside a 7 Eleven there. I'm talking about-to-die skinny. After my hubby and I did our own shopping there, I picked out the most calorie dense foods I could find (nuts, cookies, chocolate bars) and also threw in this veggie and fruit juice because it looked healthy. I got quite a whole bag's worth of food for the man for only 100 Baht (equivalent to $3-4 USD).

With food that cheap, how could I not help him?!

Sometimes you feel like if you give someone money they will just use if for drugs but being the time of year it is i'll give some money like 3-4.00 .Hoping that it's not for alcohol or drugs.

I always help people who are less fortunate. I have a passion for helping people in need. I'm in the process of starting my own nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people.

For sure! If we do not help them, how are they going to survive? We have to teach them new ways.
Life goes on...they will eventually evolve and change.

My daughter and I have always tried to help kids at Christmas time who would not be able to get toys for Christmas.  It upsets me for someone to plead hard times and when they do get money they blow it away and not try to save.  This happened to us last year.  We bought a little boy his Christmas and then when his mother got her income tax money back she blow all of it away.

Unfortunately its just like everything else in this country, I am sure their are legitimate cases and yes I would try to help, HOWEVER, I have seen so much "charity" that people use and make more money then we do, have flat screen televisions, smoke, etc...How can you afford to smoke if you cant afford to buy your kid a toy for Christmas...IDK...I have just got burned out on this whole Charity thing in this country.  I think its a joke for the most part.  I feel if anything we should be giving to the Wounded Warriors, or taking care of the Veterans who risked their lives so this Country could be such a Charity, Charity, Charity and more Charity place.

I always try to help when I can. I like to donate to food drives yearly and always give spare change when I can. I've even bought a lot of cheeseburgers and handed them out to homeless. I wish I could help out more, but I do what I can when I can.

My mother burned it into my thought process early that you should always help those that are less fortunate all year round and not just at the Holiday time.  But I am also very careful on how I help them by not giving them cash.   Childrens toys need to be smart as well.  A child is not going to enjoy a chemistry set or a teliscope or a model etc.  Just try and put yourself in their shoes as you help them out and treat them with the respect that you would want to be treated.

I will not hand out cash to anyone.  If they tell me they need money for food, I will take them to closest restaurant and let them order anything they want on the menu and will even sit and eat with them if they want.  I do not care what they look alike.  I have fed many many homeless adults and their kids.
