IT tech call offer
« on: December 05, 2012, 11:46:08 am »
Not sure if I will get credit or not for this free call offer.  It was for the IT Tech support.  I went straight through to them, gave them what was a legitimate problem that I actually had...instead of them walking me through my issue, they immediately wanted to connect TO my computer remotely, which I wouldnt let them do.  I did politely explain it was nothing against them, but I didnt know them personally and I wouldnt let anyone that I'd never dealt with before remote my computer.  Was supposed to be on the line for 2 minutes with this offer, which I was..barely...because as soon as I explained I wasnt letting them remote me, they pretty much told me there was no other way they could help.  So if you try this, be prepared to be asked to connect to your pc  :dontknow:

(edit)..i DID get credit, ty fc! :)

I work as a librarian and the automation dept. (IT) often get on our computers from their offices completely on the other side of town.  It's kind of weird when you figure until you figure out that it's not the computer going crazy; but I don't blame you for not wanting them to get on it and do it for you.  It's one thing to let people you know fix it, or the people at work designated for it, but another to let someone do it and you really don't know who they are.

That seems like a huge invasion of privacy.  :-X

I may have missed this offer. I should have done this paid to call offer and would have been a easy offer.

I thought about this paid to call offer, but if I am correct there is a limit of 8 calls per 30 day period and this offer only pays $1.00 while others pay $2.00 to $3.00.

That was a great one there. It pays to allow people you know or who you have some element of trust for to remotely connect to your PC. Before you now it, some other things would be on your PC. Nice to know that you eventually got the credit.......

You are absolutely correct in not letting them remote into your computer. All of your information and your OS would be at risk.
They could set up for things to come from your ISP that are fraudulent or illegal.
Excellent decision!

I was skeptical of this one and have not called it. Was not sure what technical support they would be helping me with. Would be great if we knew when we call what it is that they are suppose to help us with.

I think I will be up to the challenge, just because of the fact, I usually fix my own computer issues, by wiping out my whole system...lol I even figured out, how to put an older program on a new PC...So it is amazing! So if they want access, I will not give it to them, but talking for two minutes without computer access sounds like a fun and easy $1!

I still haven't called, but I think I should now, because as a person in Customer Service, they should always have a nice attitude, even if they are not happy. I know with my working from home with AT&T Features Chat, sometimes it can get hard, but I try to make sure I say what I want to type in my head and if I type it and I read it and it doesn't sound correct, I will delete it or try to reword it so I do not sound bossy or mad, because I represent the Company. So I may have to call.
