Question for computer geeks

I have not been able to close some local files on my Acer aspire one. This is a new problem. The folders for "my documents", "my computer" and "my network places" will not close. They simply remain open in the lower task bar. I have looked all over the net for help but nothing seems to work. Can somebody tell me why they will not close?

One more question...In My Documents folder, I have the option to encrypt the file. If I encrypt it, will I be able to read it or can I reverse the encryption later? Thanks anyone.   :notworthy:

    What type of browser are you using? Do not forget to update (download) the newest version because they keep changing all the time to help Internet user. Google: Internet Explorer, Modzilla Firefox or any other browser free download newest version.

That really is weird... I've never heard of that. Have you tried Alt+F4 when a folder is maximized? You may also have to go into task manager to force-close them. Have you tried just rebooting the system? It may just be that Windows Explorer is acting funny and you just need to restart that.

As to your other question, I've never used the Window's encryption, but usually the files get decrypted when you open the file (like normal) inside of Windows; thus it'd act like normal when you are logged into your system, but anyone trying to access the files outside of being logged in would find those files inaccessible. The only thing to note is that encrypted file take longer to open, so you'd probably only want to encrypt those that you want to archive and have sensitive information. Encrypting entire drives may really impact the performance of your computer... At work we have to encrypt or entire system, so there are times when my laptop feels like its moving thru molasses.

Try defragging your hard drive and after that, run a ChkDsk (or Scan Disk).  When you run the ChkDsk check off the options for "Automatically Fix File System Errors" and "Scan For And Attempt Recovery of Bad Sectors."

on my computer all i have to do  is right click and then chose close other than that ive never had any problems
