I believe that herbs and proper nutrition are better healers than prescription meds.

I prefer to used herbal and natural remedies for whatever my family needs in a medication. We used fresh vegetables ad fruits for detox the body. Drinking fresh vegetable juices for the diets and garlic for high blood. Eating fresh garlic or boiling it with water helps lower the blood pressure.

I take a lot of herbs and find them to be very helpful. They are much better than regular medication that tend to leave you with worse side effects than the original problem. The herbs are expensive but some companies give good discounts like buy one get one free or buy two and get three free.

wow my wife is on so many medications. we have seen her go downhill we think because of certain meds she has taken on all of a sudden she has to be put on more med and we have thought it was because of the previou med would natural med work for her?

Moonangel, I would need to know what your medications your wife is on and why she takes them.  Would you be willing to give me more information?  If possible, we could talk privately, if you would feel more comfortable.

The medications I was on were killing me.  My husband was the biggest support I had in getting off of them.  I understand your concern.  Believe me, I do.

Whether or not natural meds would work for her really depends on what she is suffering from and what she is willing to do.

Herb of the day:

Dong Quai (A. Sinensis)

Among the Chinese, Dong Quai has been used for over 6,000 years for its many medicinal properties.  It is considered a regulative and restoring tonic.  This herb was mostly used by women for hormonal regulation and reproductive issues.

Properties:  analgesic, calming, sedating, pain-relieving, and offers circulatory support.  It also helps the body better absorb Vitamin E.  It is used to help treat anemia, constipation, pain, menstrual irregularities, heart palpitations, and poor circulation.

CAUTIONS:  Avoid if pregnant or trying to conceive.  Do not take if you have diarrhea or have abdominal bloating.  Do not take if you have a blood-clotting disorder.

This herb is available dried, in capsules, and as tinctures.

I myself use Echinecia and Golden Seal in capsule and tea form. Excellent for helping to ward off or lessen cold and flu symptoms. When my niece started showing signs of emotional issues St. John's Wart really did work. You could actually tell the difference of when she was taking them and when she did not. I'm not saying herbal or natural remedies are for everyone, just that I have proven to myself how well they do work or have seen the proof for myself.

My mother recently discovered coconut oil. She uses it to moisten her skin, on hair and to ingest. She heard it was good for weight loss and depression. It seems to work well for lots of things actually. She uses the Nutiva unrefined extra virgin brand and Dr. Bronner's extra virgin is supposed to be great too.

Here's a link to more information on coconut oil.

I use natural remedies on my dog who has a thyroid disorder.  The other medicine was expensive and required monthly lab work.   Her hair has grown back and she acts like a puppy once again. I have faith in these products.

A friend of mine has change her whole lie to only taking herbal and natural remedies for her and her families health and lifestyle.  She is a gone "Green Queen", and I really respect that about her.  My family and I have picked up on some of her habits of trying more herbal and natural remedies, many of time it works but I still have faith in prescription medication.

I am recovering would a reaction to a medication taken for a sinus infection. If I had to do it over again, I would  be more judicious. Even though I still take prescription medications and probably will continue to do so. I would like to cut back.

I was just reading an article on the benefits of cinnamon for diabetics after and carbohydrate rich meal. I don't think it was meant to replace meds but supplement
them.

That is excellent!  We use coconut oil, too, for cooking and other needs.  It contains Medium-Chain Fatty acids and are excellent for the body.  The Ketogenic diet I am on has Coconut oil as a "safe oil".  The flavor is light and very interesting.

Coconut oil helps increase HDL Cholesterol -- which is the good kind.  LDL is the bad kind.  It helps weight loss, too.  It has been shown to increase metabolism and to help regulate blood sugar.

There i a lot of info on the internet, you do have to be careful taking some herbs and fruits with certain prescription meds. The only 1 i take is for high blood pressure and it will drop as soon as it gets warmerer and the dust quits blowing. Plus all that is going on right now with the family. I love working in my yard and garden.,  it is so relaxing.
