Growing Pains
« on: March 13, 2013, 01:18:18 pm »
Did any of have growing pains when you were kids? Or your kids? My son has been having pains in his legs for a couple years now. His doctor says they are just growing pains, but his legs hurt to the point where he is screaming. He has even had to miss school a couple of times. His doctor has never run any tests. I am thinking of getting a second opinion. What are your thoughts or past experiences on this?

I don't remember them when I was a kid, but my boys both have that pain in their legs.  They don't have it so bad as yours.  Maybe there is something else going on and I would get a second opinion.

I don't remember growing pains but we have a grandson who complains a lot about his legs hurting and his mom says they are just growing pains.  His seem to get pretty severe at times but he is prone to be a "big baby" about things too so it is hard to say how bad it really hurts.  Bless his heart!!

I don't remember having them. I'm sure I had some minor aches and pains just none that I can recall.

I don't remember having them, either and am now wondering if maybe it has anything to do with being athletic.  I was.  I ran track and cross country and played volleyball until my junior year of high school, so I was extremely active, fit, and so much more in shape then than I am now.

I never had them, and neither did my girls, but my son had them very bad.  There were many nights when he was little that found me crying alongside him because his pain was so bad.   I used children's Motrin, and sports cream.  I would give him the motrin at bed time, and massage the cream into his legs  - massaging them for about half an hour before he went to bed.
