Good post. I'm amazed how many people don't understand that all that banning anything will do is cause good people who obey the law to not have the item that's banned and those who don't care about the law to have them. Yes, certain things shouldn't be available for purchase by anyone just by running to my local Walmart, but banning things generally doesn't accomplish anything.
I mean, in school, they told us we weren't suppose to have cell phones to prevent cheating and so we'd pay attention in class. So, we were suppose to leave them in our lockers. Guess what, those who didn't want to get in trouble left them in their locker and those who didn't care kept them in their pencil cases and used them during class anyway.
Plus, I mean, a chainsaw, while big and loud, can cause far more damage than a simple knife and yet you can run to Home Depot and pick up one, or 50, of those no problem. Pick up one of my 400 page hard cover books and I'm sure that could do some damage. Even better, baseball pitchers can throw a ball rather fast, surely that will cause pain. I mean, why don't we just ban peanuts cause some people are deathly allergic to them and they can go into shock by simply being in a room with someone who ate a peanut in the past week. I even read a thing a bit back about people putting some kind of household chemical (don't remember it but like ammonia) and tin foil in a bottle and how that can cause an explosion. If we go around banning things cause they could be used to kill/injury someone, we're gonna be left with nothing.
