replacement parts
« on: July 13, 2013, 04:47:59 am »
sometimes, I have had to buy something new a second time because I  was "unaware" there were replacement parts available. I use a shower bench. The rubber stubs on the bottom get worn[ mostly from the yucky water we have in this country]. Last time I bought a completely new shower bench. This time, with a little more research, I found the parts I needed.

My dad does that all the time.  He will order new motors for his dust busters.  Sometimes I think he goes a bit too far.

I think they make it very hard to find replacement parts because they would rather you buy new so they make more sales. We also have a throw away attitude as a country. We always want new and disguard the old even if it's not broken.

Quite often the replacement part costs more than a new unit and you get a warranty with the new one. A good example is the drum on my laser printer was over $120 and a new printer was $79, so guess which one I bought?

Replacement parts are available for almost everything.  They might not be available in a local store but this is one of the great things about the internet.  You can get replacement parts for most things if you choose to.
