Do you believe that humans can become Extinct?
« on: August 26, 2013, 06:36:50 pm »
With me studying food, and the just the recent past week, the authorities of food-stuff had announced that corn was unhealthy for humans to eat!
I understand that we should eat the purple corn not the Indian corn.   :confused1:

Did you mean that humans could become EXTINCT? As in no longer here akin to the dinosaurs... humans are born with 'instincts' just as all forms of fauna are...

And what is the relationship of corn varieties to the post's heading?? I must say you have me totally CORNfused here...  ;D

I get it.  If our food supplies get more unhealthy humans won't have anything to eat.  If we're starving the death toll will go up, fewer children will be born and those that are will have a hard time thriving.

It is possible for this to happen if we don't speak up and make some real changes.  :peace:

The corn that's unhealthy is GMO corn.  It makes people sick.  Did you get the video "Right to Know" by the Refusers?  It's from YouTube.  Spread it around.  If this 'frankenfood" is so okay they should be proud to label the food it's in.  Their not labeling the food it's in is like an admission that they know it's not good for us.  :angry7: :BangHead:

ummmmm  it's not a questions of CAN... it is WHEN. Humans have been here roughly 200,000 years, and of those years only about 50,000 years with behavioral modernity.  That may sound like a long time but the earth is 4.54 billions years old.   Humans have been on Earth about 0.00001% of the Earth's existence.  Yes, humans will eventually become extinct.

There will be another Ice age in 50,000 years or an asteroid will hit the Earth, or the Sun will burn out.   Will humans become extinct in our lifetime? No?  Our great, great, great, great, great, great grandchildren's lifetime? No.  Eventually? Yes.

I watched the video "Right to Know", but I have eaten yellow corn for years and have found nothing wrong with it.  Purple corn is new to me, but I have an open mind and will try anything once, given that it doesn't taste yukky. ??? :o ???

I believe anything is possible. If people do become extinct it would be because of our carelessness.

I recently read a book (Doomsday) Where it highlights our food source diminishing.  Where fields upon fields of crops are leaked with contaminants...strategically placed to make people sick and eventually die...leading to lower populations.  The point behind it was that the government was controlling population.  Scary when you sit back and think about it.  We are indeed destroying this earth but the thought of humans becoming extinct...I haven't gone there.  I'm a believer that the Lord will come back one day and humans are going to be around when he does.

No.  Humans will never be extinct.  I do believe "they" can put stuff in our food to wipe a bunch of us out.  We are living in some scary times.

OR you could just add a few drops of red and blue food coloring to your pot of yellow corn. lol  Of course the white corn would probably work better. :D

We have some really confusing things to consider. Genetic engineering of crops/plants is nothing new, grafting of plants is mentioned in many ancient texts including the Bible. Same is true of selective breeding of animals to produce desirable traits that fit specific needs, ranging from survivability for a particular environment or enhanced production of meat, milk, or hide. Things have progressed tremendously and today we are experiencing the results of centuries of developments in these areas. Millions of people are being fed and surviving that would otherwise have perished. Food production is at the point that no one need to starve, and would not if adequate transportation and storage capabilities existed. Food is available, the problem is getting it to those that are in need. The political situations in place are the major obstacle in having this problem resolved. Also we are seeing the 'improved' new generations of people, our children are measurably taller, stronger and physically faster maturing than prior generations.

However, all this has come about with some serious costs, much of which we do not understand (or understood and not disclosed). In the USA, the 'new generation' experiences greater instances of maladies diseases than previous ones. Autism is practically epidemic today, we have no understanding why this has happened, but it would not be extreme thinking to question the very nature of all the 'improvements' genetically engineered foods have under gone as a source. Even minor things like increased incidence of ear infections and minor and major allergies have grown from the 'occasional' to the almost ordinary in many American families. Just a few thoughts there...

I don't think that humans will go extinct before everything else, but will be part of the fate suffered by all that is here, whatever that might be. :)

I do believe that one day human beings will become extinct because we who are suppose to be superior over other animals are a sorry being.  In todays' world many human beings think they are superior over other human beings.  Sad isn't?  Racial bigotry, hate, cheating etc. is what will bring it all down.  Look around you, things are changing fast and continuous.
