Remember Back When( The Good Ole Days)
« on: September 30, 2013, 05:46:33 pm »
Do you remember when you could sleep with your screen door open, and windows unlocked? There were times when front porch benches and rocking chairs were always occupied. Can you recall the days when you rushed home from school to watch cartoons, because you knew that if you missed an episode you wouldn't get too see it again until Saturday. There were days in which playgrounds were filled with laughter and excitement from little kids playing. There once was a time in which people choose to fight, instead of picking up a gun. Now game consoles, smartphones, and social media have taken the place of the playgrounds in the hearts of the children, and what was once considered wrong is now considered right. Makes me wonder what happened to the good ole days?

I can sympathize with social media and smartphones being engraved into every kids life. Especially now kids are considered inferior to their peers if they don't possess one. Personally, I think our lives are way too interconnected with all the social networking now.

I remember those days! Much simpler. Now when I send my 14 year old daughter or any of my 8 grandkids out to play, then are "bored". We were never bored when we were kids. We went out right after breakfast, stopped home for a bite for lunch then went out until dinner. Then we went out until after dark. I remember catching lightning bugs and putting them in jars when we slept out in the yard in the tent.

Yeah that's another thing. We actually went outside and played. I was a kid in the early 80s and sure there was a lot of TV on in those days, but if we were bored we went outside, used our imagination and invented a game or whatever. Now kids have the ps3/xbox360 and most lack any sort of creativity. I think a lot of this is the parents fault since everytime my wife and I go out to eat we always see parents sucked into their cellphones and not paying any attention to their children...so the kids just emulate what their parents do.

Wow! Even though I only just turned 20, things were different when I was younger.
Opinion: 1) a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter 2) belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge
This is the internet, learn to let people have opinions. And don't be so sensitive.  8)

I remember television what I had to turn a dial and when I had to wait for my song to play when listening to the radio...  But I always used caution and locked the door.  Maybe it's because early in my life my family's house was robbed.

I can still sleep with my doors open.  I always lock them it's just a habit but I live in a good neighborhood and I don't fear people walking into my house.

I'm too young to remember those days.  My parents always locked the doors at night and when leaving the house.  However, they never had a dead bolt on their door.  I know they now have one.

The truth is, though, if someone wants in your house bad enough, a lock on a door or window really isn't going to keep them out.

Yes, I do indeed remember those days.  Technology has made the majority of us just a bunch of mindless automatons that the big companies are making millions off of.  I swear there has got to be a better way to use our money.

I remember knowing everyone on the blocks surrounding our house  we moved a while back and still only know one neighbor and that was because he walked outside when we were and we waved at him.  all summer long we have not really even seen anyone outside we are outdoorsy type people so we are outside a whole lot when our grandkids are over we make them go outside I say make but we have just took them outside and they have all kinds of fun and we don't have a pool or a trampoline just *bleep* and jump ropes and lil cars waterguns just lil stuff like that  they are about the only kids we see just playing outside

YOU DESCRIBED MY LIFE EXACTLY.  IN TODAY'S WORLD IT SEEMS AS THOUGH WE WERE DROPPED INTO A PARALLEL WORLD WHERE OUR INNOCENT DREAMS HAVE BEEN TURNED INTO HORRIFIC NIGHTMARES EVERY SINGLE DAY. WHERE DID IT ALL GO WRONG?  THE THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING NOW IN THE WORLD REALLY SCARES ME.
