Wow, this is hard.  Times are hard but I know in my mind I would feel guilty not turning in.  I would really be tempted to keep it but would have to do whats right.

I would have to turn it in to the police. If it had been stolen and was marked, I could be in a heap of trouble if I kept it. :)

Better to return it the authorities because its not right to get it. Maybe the owner need it very badly to have that big cash money.

I'd keep it.  Give it to the authorities? Yeah right.  Crooked cops.

when i was young i would have given the money back but i now live in a tourist town nicknamed the redneck riveria i watch these wealthy people spend more money than i can even dream of. sometimes not tipping. often losing 10 thousand dollars or more and honest young people returning it to them (usually soliders). Now i know i should not be jealous tha can afford to spend a 100 grand on a wedding or celebration but it really bothers me that they carry around thousands in cash so causally that it can be lost so easily. i mean to says if i had 5000 spending money in cash i would know it whereabout at alltimes, it would not fall out the back of my convertable or get left at a rest stop

I'd take it to my bank, have them count it and record the serial numbers, put it in a safety deposit box, and then have them notify the police.

I guarantee if someone with a legitimate claim to that much money lost it, the first place they would go is to the police.

Drug dealers, not so much.

First thing I would do is go to the police and see if anyone reported it missing. If after three days no one reported it missing I would figure it wasn't honest money so I would give a big amount to charities that need funding. help family and friends and pay off my bills. But if it was reported and it was honest money I would turn it in to the police department.

I would do what every good citizen of this country would do. Turn it over to the authorities. I really do appreciate the rest of you for your honesty and integrity. Thank you very much Oldbuddy. For leaving it alone because that was my money. Hahaha! Joke!

I'd watch the news first and see if there was some bank heist or drug bust. Then I'd check the money for any tracking devices. I might turn it into the police if I found it was from a heist, but if not, I probably wouldn't. The feds and my state gov't are corrupted and as-is. I'd be better off handing it over to a compulsive gambler. They do not deserve any more $ until they can balance their budgets.

I'd probably slowly donate half of it to legit charities, and then buy a nice car and do some long road trips around the continent.

I would turn it over to the police. but i also would expect some documention that i turned it in and how much it was. Just in cast their was not some one quit so honest on he force. If a person kept it, that would be the same as stealing.

Give to to the authorities, and let them handle it. Yes in these hard times, we all need extra money but I'd rather sleep at nights and do my best to legally work for it; of course if I hit the lottery that's not work but at least I did it legally!
