Unfortunately, some things never change. Way back in the day, my parents used to make us dump our trick or treat bags bags
on the table and they would inspect the candy. Then we would fight over whose was whose.

That is awful.  What kind of thrill the human received when injecting danger with a needle into a piece of candy.  How do think the candy would look with the injection.  THAT PERSON IS NAUGHTY

I didn't know they were suppose to check for needle HOLES!!!  We didn't go trick or treating but maybe two times and we only went to people we knew.  I always thought they were suppose to look for NEEDLES.  Needle holes makes more sense. lol

Kids getting poisoned from Halloween candy is nothing more than an urban legend.

Not true.  There have been instances where people had really tampered with candy.

there have been instances when parents have poisoned there own children with the candy however the whole razors blades thing is in fact an urban legend however on the news the other day they were talking about some guys that were handing out drugs that were shaped like candy to children.  sick people in this world today really wishing that my kids could grow up back when you didnt have to worry about the neighbor next door either trying to kill you or sexually assault you.

Even if it does happen, in no way is this a reason to stop a fun tradition for kids. After all, you or your kids can get poisoned/drugged with any food you run into during the day. Once you realize that, you realize these halloween-poison-candy fears are irrational.

Most of our trick or treating will be done in the shopping malls. I feel that they are pretty safe, but I am still going to check my kids candy. Better safe than sorry. You just never know what to expect nowadays.

The safest thing is to only go trick-or-treating to people's houses that you know. Although from reading the newspapers, I don't' know if even that is safe any more!
