Sorry I can't answer your questions because I would have the same ones.  Hopefully someone will enlighten us on the subject.  :)

Best thing is to see the tv turned on before you buy it. And listen to it, some have better speakers.

I got mine 3 years ago on Black Friday, got it for a great deal, but they only had so many tvs, so just grabbed one, and never saw it turned on.

I love mine except when something is moving across the screen fast, like a car, or when the video pans quickly, its too quick, and I have to turn away quickly, or I get queezy and it hurts my eyes. I can watch the same thing on one of the older tv's in the house and it doesnt do that.

I think its high definition. Im sure all tvs dont do that, so good to watch the one you want to buy first.

I just got a 32" LG HDTV and I am cooking! I picked a 1080P resolution so I could use it for my computer monitor and 32" was about as big as I could get on my desk, alongside my 19" monitor which I still have hooked up.

I think deals are on all year, but right now is about as good as they get.

A smart TV means it can get on the Internet, but since I have mine hooked to my computer all the time I don't need that. I can be typing in the Fusioncash forum and one flick of the remote can put me into Netfix watching a movie for a break.

I think LCD is like your computer monitor screen when you touch it it feels like drop of rain drop. But LED is better because if you ruin the screen for your LCD you can't fix it. But your LCD is long lasting. That's what I was told by the TV tech employee at Fred Meyer's. That is why LCD is more expensive.

The next big sale will be Presidents Day and then for Super Bowl!  Also great times to buy a TV.  The best deals are usually Black Friday, but there are still awesome deals other times of the year.  We got ours during a President's Day sale.  As far as what kind to get, it's best to stick with well known brands.  Go check out the TV's and see the picture before you buy.  Talk to a sales person, they'll help explain the differences.  :)

I think oldbuddy's answer is spot on perfect.  I am thinking about the same purchase myself, but just like you said, I am waiting until after the holidays, not only because of pricing, but also because of what a madhouse all the stores seem to be.  But good luck to you with your purchase.

We got a Samsung SmartTV from WalMart during their Black Friday sale. We are just in love with it. I had issues where my old DVD player wasn't compatible with it, so I had to buy a new one, but other than that it's been a dream.

We have three flat screen Tv's. We've had good luck with all of them. We've bought mainly LG and Samsung. We've gotten some good deals on Tiger Direct. I don't know anything about Smart TV. Good luck with your quest.

I have a flat screen in my den.  I bought it one year in January.  Was going to buy on Christmas day at Wal-Mart, but it snowed that year where I live and a lot of workers could not get to work, so they were shorthanded.  I still got a good price on it because it was on sale.

My family too is looking at buying a flat screen for the first time.  We are not looking at anything too big as a 29" or 32" would do fine.  It is hard to believe how big flat screens get.  I am pleased that over the years like most electronics the prices have fallen.
