Tired of the media!
« on: July 05, 2009, 02:06:57 pm »
Is anyone else tired of listening to the media?  I don't believe what they say half of the time and they report about more stupid stuff than ever.  Did anyone here about them bringing up President Obama killing a fly?  That is the dumbest thing that I have ever hear in my life.  The next thing you are going to here is that flies are endangered.

The best way to get news is from the good ol' daily newspaper, which writes in detail about important issues that affect us all. Unfortunately, we're at risk of losing this treasure because most people prefer to watch the TV or computer and hear about Obama swatting a fly instead of what Obama is trying to accomplish for this country.

You want proof of the media sucking? Just look at the death of Jackson, it is the only thing they care about when you got other things going on like Iran and Korea! They have their agenda a bit messed up.

Oh I totally agree!! and that ladies and gentalmen is why I don't watch the news. If anything I read the paper or go online. I skip the hype, and find the real news. I also don't watch it because it is so depressing and most the time they just repeat themselves. It gets kind of annoying. I am so glad I don't have cable anymore.

Listen to NPR it is way better than any other media format.

I know, one minute they were downing him and now all they can do is talk about how great he.  There are tons more things going on than the death of MJ.  I prefer getting my news from local newspapers and stations.  I only used the fly swatting as an example of non-informing the media has become.

I haven't been watching a whole lot of tv lately anyway so all of the news I get I find out online.  I just got back today from being out of the country since last Monday and I have no clue what's going on.

YES, yes, yes  :notworthy:

i believe the media is the biggest form of brainwashing.
just like you said, bevins, you can't believe half the stuff
they even report.

yet, most people DO because of the simple fact that
it IS the media. and you can't blame them because
who wants to believe that we're fed garbage?
i don't, but its the flippin' truth.

this stuff gets me all riled up, man :P
(offtopic: bevins, have you ever heard/watched the
alex jones radio show?)

well, i don't want you to get the idea that i'm
a "conspiracy nut" ... and i'm not sure where you
stand on politics, but it doesn't really matter
what side you're on when it comes to the truth, i say!

since i can't post a link, just google info wars
and the first thing that should pop up is his website
where you can watch his radio show broadcasts.

its really interesting, and i think he's very down to earth
when compared to most of the people that does what
he does. i hope you think so too!

The media is only going to report whatever makes the biggest impact, because they know there are people out there who gets some sort of sick thrill out of such reporting.  If it makes money they don't care about quality, just  quantity.

They report this kind of stupid/moronic news because of the demand and 99.5% can't be trusted.

I just watch it with a smile. I laugh at how warped everything they say is and how behind they are on everything.  ;D

I don't watch the news anymore. I read the newspaper instead. At least the stuff they report on is important. It's straight and to-the-point. The media just cares about getting network ratings and whatnot. The media likes to stir stuff up wherever they can, and people pay the price for that. Did you hear a while back about that breeder who sold (or was going to) a pedigreed puppy to VP Biden? Because the media hyped that up so much, the poor woman was getting everything short of death threats from animal rights activists who think that the only good way of getting a dog is from a shelter. It's just her JOB. Who is to say that all dogs have to have a hard life before they're adopted, anyway? And who says the Vice President of the United States can only get a dog from a certain place? It's still a dog.
But I'm going off topic. Ah yes, the media.
Only the media could make it seem like the death of Michael Jackson is more important then North Korea threatening to destroy us with nuclear missiles (which they are probably capable of doing) or young people getting gunned down for standing up for their rights because Iran's leadership is corrupt and twisted. I was shocked and worried  when I found out about the latter two. I honestly (and MJ fans, don't take this the wrong way) did NOT care for Michael Jackson. His death has affected me none. And who really wants to hear about someone that has 8 kids when more are starving in Africa? Or get all riled up because there is one less abortionist, when there are so many more? Or hear about celebrities shaving their heads or coming out of rehab for the 10th time or whatever the hell is going on right now, when it's just not important?
There are no more "famous people". Because of the media, they are now celebrities. And that is NOT always a good thing. Most of the time, it isn't.

This is the reason why I don't like the media. And keep in mind that I do not consider the newspaper "the media" since it's just so different from the other forms of media. Good different, not bad.
