More than 1,400 people in China were arrested yesterday.  Over 150 Chinese were killed during a protest/riot.  Social media sites and Youtube were shut down by the Chinese government.  Mobile phone and Internet services have been all but stopped completely.

There is still plenty of strife going on in Iran.

CNN, Fox, MSNBC have had non-stop coverage of a single dead person.

If E!, MTV, and VH1 want to have non-stop coverage and specials, cool...news stations, no.  Have a piece here and there, that's great and understandable.  But a week of endless coverage while there are some ridiculous things going on in the world that DO directly or indirectly effect the lives of all Americans is plain stupid.

And I know I'll get plenty of flack for saying this.  Save your breath.  The man was an icon, a great musician, I feel for his family...but he's a single individual in a world of almost 7 billion.

I am quite saddened by the death of MJ but a little aggrevated by the fact that Ive been listening to him throughout his whole career (I am only 27) & now all of the sudden people my age are talking about how much they loved his music when they havnt even listened to it recently. I play "Man in the Mirror" every time Im at the bar.

I never really cared about people making jokes about him, but now that he's not here anymore, it makes me really sad.

No one seemed to care till after he died. All I heard were bad things about him when I was growing up. Now its all these great things. Funny how everyone was a fan but only after his death.

Funny, I hear the exact opposite, no one really gives a rats *bleep* about him where I come from, and he most likely did molest children.  And in my personal opinion, his music sucks, his life and attitude toward life were a tragedy at best, and a good dancer...? At least a million people can dance exactly like him and millions more can dance better.  Good riddance of that man and I can't wait until everyone stops talking of him.

i get that he was a big deal in the music world.
i get that he paved and made the way for who-the-hell-ever.
i get that he had countless hits.

but i've never been a fan.
there are plenty more important things going on.
and plenty better things to mourn over.

regardless of whether or not he molested children,
he had to've realized he was putting himself in the position
TO BE accused of it. did he have no common sense?

some of his songs were decent, sure.
but that doesn't make him a god.
he's just a person.
and people die every single day.

what a creeper, dude.

The only thing tragic about this is that children have lost their father.

I really like his music, always did regardless of what the media had to say.  I feel that they way that he was, was caused by his fame and the media.  I believe the media could drive anyone crazy.  Regardless, MJ was just another man that just so happen to make good music.  The thing that gets me about celebraties, they are made rich by those of us that decide to listen to their music.  We pay them so that we can so call "idolize" them.  That is something to think about.  That just shows how screwed up our society has become. :sad1:
