One of my fellow parishioners at church told me she didn't have to work and we were supposed to meet up (I am the Finance Secretary and she is the Secretary).  My hubby took me to help him apply for a job yesterday and the place was open.  I finally heard from the parishioner at 11:30 am.  She cancelled, and I was glad because my right leg was aching something awful.

I had to work but I telecommute from home and only get overtime for working 5 holidays during the year, and this isn't one of them. We don't have any paid holidays.

Yeah, I had to work yesterday... We don't get too many national holidays off, just New Years, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Xmas. Although usually for Thanksgiving, they also give us the following Friday off as well (which is nice to be able to hit of the black Friday sales).

Yes, I had  to work on President's Day.  I work for local government so we worked.

I do not think President's Day is a day that should cause people to stay home and not work.  It is not a holiday.
We have too may stupid days that government officials make up to take off from work WITH PAY mind you.  Not that they do much when they are actually suppose to be working.

I had to work.  Our kids had to go to school to make up missed snow days even though no one was allowed in the school buildings on Martin Luther King Day.  That was a beautiful day that our kids could have gone to school but the state law forbids anyone to enter the school building on that day.  They can enter the buildings on any of the other 364 days, though.  Discrimination??

Yeah that is not right.  They need to go any day they can to make the snow days up.  They aren't going to want to go during the summer.  And the kids could care less about mlk day.  Heck, I could care less about mlk day. lol

I had to work on President's Day.  I work at a residential group home so someone works there 24/7 every single day of the year including each and every holiday.
