Some people are like that. They lie to you...and then... turn their backs on you. It is a hard lesson learned in this hard life!

Some people are just not good friends. Or perhaps she was embarrassed.

I have a father who lies based on who he is talking to, I don't get why people just can't be honest.

I think you are right, Their embarrass or they have a high pride, that they won`t want people know what life situation is, For me I rather want the people know what is our life situation is than to lie to them, because in that way, I feel peaceful, its nice to think that I don`t have to hide anything especially to a friend.

Some people just lie.  They are liars.  There is nothing to be embarrassed about.  They just lie.  I know people like that.  And if you ask somebody a question they do not want to answer they can just say 'it's none of your business or I don't want to answer that".  No need to lie about it.

Some people lie because they don't want to hurt your feelings. I'm an honest gal, if someone asks me what I think, I tell them straight. I don't lie about it but I do chose my words carefully to avoid offending anyone unnecessarily. I might start off with..... I couldn't pride myself in our friendship if I couldn't be honest with you. I do try to see things from everyone's perspective and I think I'm fair.

The way I see this is if the friend was in your shoes then maybe they would prefer a lie rather than the truth. You know most people have a hard time dealing with the truth, especially if the truth is stepping on some toes. I also think that if I ask a direct question then I should receive a direct honest answer. If your friend feels the need to lie about something that doesn't really matter then what else are they lying about? Maybe , you need to find another friend. :peace:

Sometimes "friends" lie to us to protect us, other times it's to let us, in their eyes, think of them differently than if we had known the truth.  So it really depends on the lie and whether or not it will affect us directly or not.
