Quick 5 Question Banking Survey (FusionCash Surveys)
« on: March 20, 2014, 05:15:50 pm »
Has anyone completed this survey? I started it, but at about the 3rd question it asked for my bank routing number, NOT the account number. Apparently, it was for the purpose of verifying banks for a check printing company (I think). I left the survey at that point because it made me kind of uncomfortable giving that kind of info.

Did anyone else start and complete this one??

It does not matter if you give your bank routing number.  It has nothing to do with your account.  Everyone at your bank has the same routing number.

IceKitty, I did the exact same thing about 10 minutes ago.  I, too, started the survey but x'd out after being asked for the routing number.  I don't mind giving other information but this made me uneasy.   :-\

Oh, I understand that, but it still made me uncomfortable being asked that kind of information.

Yes, I started this survey, but when they asked my routing number
I quickly hit the X. After the Target breach with their cards, I figured
why take the chance?

As others have noted, the routing number only identifies which bank you have.  It has no relation to your account number, and giving it in a survey is no more likely to cause trouble than answering the question "which bank to you use".

I completed it. I guess it would be one thing if I used a smaller bank but since thousands of people have the same routing number as I do I really don't think it's really an invasive question.

I too did the survey and gave my routing number simply because that is the banks infor not mine and the question about where you buy your checks was next I tend to think it was mostly to see if people buy their checks from the bank or purchase from cheaper places like vista print  check unlimited that sort of thing  any how I did it and got the 90  cents

Heck no I was not giving out any banking info.  A measly .50 cents is not worth identity theft.

There is no way identity theft will occur from giving out your bank's routing number.  Everyone with an account at your bank has the same routing number.  It's the bank's number not yours.
I did it and received the 50 cents.

I wouldn't have any problem with giving out my bank's routing number because it's not personally identifiable information.  But one time I was taking a survey about online banking practices and it actually wanted me to log into my online banking account!  It reassured me that it wouldn't save my login information or use it against me, etc.  As you can imagine, I exited that survey immediately!

It does not matter if you give your bank routing number.  It has nothing to do with your account.  Everyone at your bank has the same routing number.
The routing number does however give SOME information to them, IE which state your account was started in, but otherwise has no information indentifying you.  You can go to most banks websites and get the list of routing numbers they use.
