Uninsured drivers

My youngest daughter had another car accident last Friday, thus ending the life of our car. Praise God, she was not seriously injured. The idiot that did not yield making a left turn, does not have insurance. He lied to police and said he did, but failed to mention he canceled the policy in January. I ain't happy.
So my question is, how many of you would risk driving without insurance?

That sounds almost exactly like what happened to me once... I too got T-boned by an uninsured driver that failed to yield when making a left-turn. To make matters worse, he was of Hispanic origin and so was trying to pass off that he didn't know English. Luckily one of the witnesses happened to be an interpreter (you should have seen his face fall when she informed him of this in Spanish). In our state we have to have at least liability, so like for my last car when it was nearing 100K miles, that was all I kept (thinking if I were in an accident, it'd total out the value of the car, so it wasn't worth it to keep anything extra). But now I've got my newer car fully insured with liability, collision, as well as comprehensive in case I hit a deer. I just think it's worth it to have everything when the car still has many more years of life to go.

It's against the law in IL not to have insurance.....so, I'd say you're not very smart to drive without it!

I would never risk driving without insurance. In England, it is illegal to not have the basic "third party" insurance which covers the damage to the other car and any medical expenses incurred. In your scenario, you daughter and her car would have been covered but not the man who caused he accident. He would have to pay for his own medical bills and car damage out of his own pocket.

It's the law to have car insurance, but some people still don't get it until they get into a accident and then they'll learn their lesson.

I would never drive a car that was not insured.  I would have really been in trouble the last accident I had (actually the only real accident I have ever had) because, even though I could not avoid it, I was technically at fault since the driver in front of the driver in front of me made a complete stop and the car in front of me and I could not stop in time and rear-ended each other.  And, yes, it is against the law not to have insurance.

In our state we  must have libabty  and uninsured motorist. If you car is newer then 10 years you should have full cover. A lot of people in this state will get insurance for 3 months and then drop it. age. We are suppose to have insurance on the car or truck before we can get it registered . The biggest problem we have is our stupid Democrate governor let the illegals get drivers lic. And also all the Indians on the reservations who drop their because they seem to think they don't need it. It is a mess.

It's against the law to not have insurance where I'm at and I would never do this myself.  Luckily I haven't had to use my insurance, but I definitely don't want to be in a situation where I would have to deal with a person who didn't have this.
