  That's bad, I know. I got pregnant when I was barely 18, in 1973. I hate to say it, but I lost a lot of good oportunities that I could have had if I didn't. I wanted to join the Navy, and see the world.. All I wound up seeing was the welfare line.

Having a baby at 16 or 17 -- well any young age --can definately make life harder for the young mom.


BUT it doesn't have to be a bad thing.  Family support is important.

Our daughter gave us a granddaughter shortly after she turned 17.  She finished high school and went to college. 

We helped take care of our granddaughter, but our daughter has always been the MOM.  We are there to help her out, but she is responsible for her family.

You should feel really blessed because not all teenage stories ends so good. Many time kids feel trapped by the choices they made.

I had my daughter when I was 18. I had already finished highschool and even 1 year vocational college. There is a lot of options for teen moms now for finishing school. I hope she realises how important her education is for her and especially her baby, good luck to her, hopefully it works out for her!

been there done that.... my oldest daughter i was 16 when i got pregnant... either ur ready or ur not but my  om and my older brother were there for me the whole way threw....

My aunt had her frist kid at 13 she has 3 kids, but I dont think she whould have changed anything.. I dont think I could have had a kid that young, but I was only 18 when I got pregent with my frist.

Things happen these days that didnt back when our parents and granparents were young....it is stupid for teenagers to have sex....especially unprotected....its not right for a teenagerto get pregnant, however...the child should in no way shape or form be treated differently because his mother or parents are teens. For some teens however, it does make them grow up and accept responsibility, it did for a cousin of mine who had one at 15.

It still happened. Just not as often.
And yeah, it's just dumb. Children should not have children. At 16, you are still very much a child.

If a 16 year old gets pregnant it is not the end of the world.  Granted they are going to have to grow up a little quicker, have more responsibilities, and there are going to be more challenges, but their life will go on.  They just have to deal with the situation and move on.  When they make the choice of having sex they are making grown up decisions.  Getting pregnant goes along with it.

I don't recommended a 16 year old have a baby I think you should be married before you have a kid cause it helps but I was 16 when I had my first child with My then boyfriend and we didn't have our families. We are now married for 5 years but it was hard we had some tuff times I couldn't imagine not having my kids but If i could I would Have waited longer till i was married to have my son

I had my first child when I was 15. My life was not ruined. I finished high school and I am currently in college. When my daughter looks at me she sees no wrong, and I am not ashamed of her at all. Life is what you make it. Children are a blessing and you should treat them as such. Her life is not over and now she has a real reason to push and strive excellence.
