Costs are minimal when it comes to selling online as compared to opening up your own storefront and having all those overhead costs. There's really no comparison.

In addition to Etsy, there's eBay...and countless other sites but you'll want to stick to the sites that have a built-in audience so it's easier to get customers.

Your income is directly related to your philosophy, NOT the economy. - Jim Rohn

If you have a product that is in demand, it's not hard to find customers all over the Internet.

You can set up a fishing blog for a couple of bucks a month and there are plenty of affiliate deals you could make money from. Let me know if you need help.

Like some of the other people here, I would say FC is my hobby, and it's one of the ways I make money. I've also sold a few of my paintings and drawings on the web. That's a good feeling. Nothing better than selling something you create.

I make wood crafts as a hobby, and have made several sales on Etsy. I make enough to pay for materials and some of my time, so I can continue to make what I like. To be successful on Etsy you really have to put in some time and effort to maximize your shop's potential - good photos, titles, descriptions, etc.

Both myself and my husband make a living through our hobbies.  The best part is we get to do them together.  He's always loved working outdoors.  Mowing and landscaping.  So he has a a few lawns he works on regularly.  He and I both do sites like this one.  When we have the opportunity to cash out via amazon cards we snag them.  He invests in his hobby and when we're low on cash he sells what he bought on ebay.  I love to teach and save money.  So I'm now marketing myself in teaching others how to save and make $$$ doing things they do every day.  It's a beautiful thing.

We haven't gone online yet to sell but my daughter and I do have several orders for the cross stitch book marks and key chains we do just from people seeing them.

Making money, as mentioned by another person in the replies, is my hobby.  I work two full time jobs and all but two dollars of this income goes to support my family.  I figure I am entitled to two dollars from eighty hours of work per week. I rarely spend the family on myself...occasionally shoes/haircut but I eat the family's leftovers for lunch. When I have a free moment or two I hit sites like this and have been doing so for the last five or so years. Every cent made has been spent on additional investments. The dividends/interest from these investments beats the amount of money I am making by way of point to clicks and blogs. I continue to do this and as of today have set a new goal for ten years from now that is pretty lofty.

No because I am not that creative.  I have encouraged my sister-in-law to try to sell her crochet work online because she is extryemely creative - she makes absolutely beautiful baby dresses, booties and hats among other things.  Very ornate.

Is there anyone out there making money online selling their products that they have made?  I am thinking about doing that but am not sure if it is a good idea or cost me more to put it online that I would actually make.
I noticed the more people are using the Facebook Yard Sale to sell stuff you can try that first It might sell better.
