No! Never. I do not believe in child abuse and that is what spanking is!

No i do not think it is acceptable at all. I think its violent and teaches children that hitting is an acceptable way to treat people. and i think its very disrespectful.

I don't plan on it. I don't think it's necessary.I  really think most children can improve if you just take away a privilege or talk to them. Maybe explore the possibility that  there's a chemical imbalance or other issue.I know parents hate the thought but maybe it's your fault. Diet and hyperactivity are closely related for example. I'm really uncomfortable with the idea of pain and fear tactics.

Yes, I think it is acceptable to spank kids. I don't think they should be abused. I look at this generation compared to the generation that I grew up in. We were spanked at home and at school, and we had much more respect for adults, authority figures and people in general.

I think today it is best to just punish the child by taking away things they like to do, instead of hitting them.

You would have to define spanking......
In general, I would say there is no reason to hit a child.

i see nothing wrong with spankings.  i spank my child.  there is a difference from beating your child and spanking them.  my son in particular is very strong willed and at two he is very defiant and will do things that could cause him harm.  he knows that he will get a spanking and go to his room for time out if he doesnt listen and slowly he is starting to act out less.

Yes I popped my boys when they were small on the butt, what with their pants and diapers it didn't hurt. Did not have to do it much. But the had to learn to respect me when I said no. Then as they got a little older I would send them too their room. Well they minded, but I would go and check on them and lo and behold the stinkers had crawled oout of the windows and got something that would keep them busy.  Well fixed that put in new windows and fixed them so they couldn't crawl out. Then it got to the point when they did not listen I would send them to their room and tell them I would tell them their punishment the next day. The youngest would be up about midnight wakeing me up to see what it would be. Back to bed with him. I never hit hard or beat them. I was beat as a child and never would do that.

There is a difference between hitting and spanking.  It is never ok to hit your child.  A swat on the butt to spank them, perfectly acceptable form of punishment.  But I don't think it needs to be a go to action. It depends on the child and what they did.
