1 John 4
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

Satan leads many astray, that is certain. But if you truly have Christ as you're savior, you need have no fear of Satan.

It seems ironic that you profess the Catholic Church to be a great evil, but you place unwavering loyalty to the Watchtower, whose teachings are even more perverted than that of Catholicism.

You should read the bible for all it's worth-independent of whatever "religion" tells you.I know you said you are a former Catholic, but you must realize that by converting to a Jehovah's Witness, you've jumped from the proverbial frying pan into the fire.

Well yes...Jesus said after his death he has conquered the world and the evil one has no power over him.The bible says oppose the devil and he will flee from you and of course we apply Jesus ransom and we are victorious.

But it is a fight to the finish.Jesus said,He that endures to the end will be saved......there is a long way to go..it isnt a question of saying,we are saved......faith without works is dead.

Ive said many times friendship with the world and you cant serve 2 masters doesnt sit well if we are to gain Gods approval.Again those scriptures are in the bible. We have not only a fight with satan and his hordes but against our fleshly sinful ways!!

I may have gone over this with you before RE being a catholic.I never could understand why a God of love could punish his creation in hellfire. And to eat meat on Friday was  mortal sin???

It always bothered me why if God existed why he allowed wickedness?Reading a publication from the Watchtower explained why God has allowed wickedness to exist. The catholic religeon didnt. They said their mass in Latin when i was a child and even when they said it in english it still made NO sense.

The Watchtower backs up scripture with logic. There are many examples..the trinity...death....Mary blah blah. You see truth with the Watchtower as long as your heart is right.Remember the scripture about the bible being a 2 edged sword. Many dont agree...why?Its EZ...just look at how the Pharissees viewed Jesus or what Pilate thought abut truth?

Jesus said you will have love among yourselves if u r my true followers.I have seen it 100000000000000 fold at the meetings conventions etc.

I was at Yankee stadium in early 70s and as the last song titled "We thank you Jehovah"was being sung i felt the spirit in the stadium with about 20000 people there and said to myself.....If Jehovah isnt God,than God doesnt exist!!

Sometimes i dont think you have looked hard enuff at their teachings or meetings!!You see they are in 236 lands and give FREE bible studys to those that wanna learn.Doesnt that discern anything to you?

There seems to be quite a few people on here that know everything there is to know about the birth of Jesus although they do seem to differ quite a bit which is certainly interesting.

Some churches are putting out display performances of the Nativity. I went to one such a show last night. There were several outdoor booths. They had real donkeys (even in Florida).
One showed Caeser making his decree, another showed a tax collector, another showed some women selling their wares. There were two different ones showing Mary and Joseph, one being the scene with the innkeeper telling them there was no room at the inn and the other was the manger scene.

I have seen the live nativities before. They are so neat to see. I have not seen one in years though.

Bowrunner if we dont use the bible RE info about Jesus, where would we get it?

I am not sure how much of the forum you read but 12/25 is NOT backed up in the bible and Jesus early followers didnt celebrate his birth.Jesus commanded them right before he dismissed Judas to memorialize his death because of the ransom it presented to save mankind from sin and death.

That date IS Nisan <Jewish month> 14 after sundown. And the bible is used to define that.

You can see for yourself on JW.org how that is explained to see how every year that Nisan 14 comes on a different date with our calendar.

We have a neighbor that goes a bit overboard as well.  They had five plastic lit nativity scenes in addition to all kinds of other Christmas decorations on their lawn.  I seem to recall that their was one Jesus...not five; one Rudolph the red nosed reindeer-not four. Inflatable lawn decorations appear to be the new rage-Costco is making a killing. I am kind of all about lights on the front trees and bushes and minimizing clutter. Maybe a few wreaths.  A clear sot of your Christmas tree through the front window to top it off.  I guess our family doesn't need a lot of attention. I am amazed at the number of kids that steal christmas decorations-doesn't really capture the spirit.

Tresb.....the stealing kinda fits with the spirit of the world....

I think the bible backing up God doesnt enjoy being compared with dead things <plastic stone etc>shows this is something HE doesnt view as positive.

Think of it this way....if a spiritual being could create the universe, how much more spectacular must he look?

He told Moses no man can see me and live.

Plastic,stone...etc......they also are dead.

I have never seen anything like that.  Sounds interesting.  Most just do the manger scene.
