Power outage
« on: July 06, 2015, 06:16:35 pm »
You don't realize how much you will miss having  power until it is gone. Our power went out for a few hours today before it got dark, so I pulled out my Sudoku book and did some puzzles. I could not wait for it to come back on though, I am a tv addict, lol.

Hope the power is back. That's truth, not too bad for couple hours, great time to take a nap.

So true, when the power is out you really then realize how much you miss it.  It's bad enough mo lights or tv, but we have a well, so no water!

:) I hate to lose power too. We are so addicted to our devices. Well, Suduko was a good choice.  :)

Thing is back in the day people lived just fine with no electric and no devices.  Things were really better then.  I like the devices but things were better before the age of electronics.

During the winter our power seems to go out more than any other time of the year.  Several years ago a bad ice storm kept it out for close to a week.  I was out of town then but my husband and our daughter were here.  They said it was tough and I sure believe it would have been.  I think the most its been out when I was home was for 2 days and that was tough enough!

Right now I have several flash lamps to light up house when a power outage happens (almost all the power outages I got come are from the nightime). I just read my electrical textbooks and then go to sleep... I remember the big power outage that lasted 4-5 days... Had to throw away the spoiled food in the fridge

Yes it does make such a difference if you don't have electricity.  We as a people have become so dependent on it that it's very hard to do without. I agree with you........."You don't realize how much you much having power until it's gone".   :(

We are very lucky where we live, very seldom have a long period of power outages.  Our town has a couple of huge back up generators and if it the power is going to be off for several days it would kick in off and on enough to keep things frozen in the freezer and fridge.    We are also luck to have  gas heater that requires no electric and a nice wood stove that I can heat water up on for soups and things . Also a propane camp stove and grill, which should only be used out doors. I keep several cans well a lot of dehydrated food items on hand. Yep we would have no problems .

I had the same problem today. But the power came back right up. It only lasted a few seconds.

That happened to me a couple of weeks ago.
fortuneately, the power was only out for a couple of hours.
being summer my main concern was loosing all the food in frig/freezer
As soon as I got out the battery operated candles the lightd came on! :rainbow: :rainbow: :peace: :peace:
