The shootings going on all the time now are crazy! Every day or so, there is a new one. No one ever knows where or when  this will happen or how many will die or be injured. I'm almost afraid to go anywhere nowadays.

I'm sure he had a reason to shoot them.
Whether or not it was a rational reason or not, we'll never know, because they shot him dead.

I am so saddened by the senseless and self serving destruction of peoples lives by these cruel people.  I believe in the American justice system but there should be a zero tolerance mandatory extermination of anyone who commits this type of crime.  I know, curing violence with violence is not a good thing but those who do these things should not be allowed to exist.  I feel for the families of the lovely people who were exterminated but evil crazies....from suicidal pilots to terrorists.

And a little more.  How much of this is to be blamed on the violence in movies and games which devalue and desensitize people to the act of murder.  Or are we just breeding more sociopaths today in general because of over population?  Thes seem to happen more and more in "civilized" regions of the world.

No they do not need to stop "anyone" from getting guns.  You think things are bad now?  Have you seen the footage of the Middle Eastern countries where the police have guns and the citizens have no way to protect themselves.  If you don't want a gun then that is fine.  But we have a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to bear arms.  And look at the Boston Bomber.  How many people were hurt there?  He didn't use a gun but managed to hurt and kill people.  This is all part of the plan to be able to take more rights away from us.  And the reason?  It was a terrorist attack.

You seriously are going to blame video games and television and movies?  This also has nothing to do with over population.  It has to do with the way people are raised.  You cannot even spank your own kid for doing wrong without fear of going to jail.  You can't punish them in any way without fear of having them taken away and put in foster care.  The problem is we have raised up a generation of idiots who think they world revolves around them. People who have never been told no.  People who think the world owes them something and everything should be handed to them on a silver platter and with the thinking that they do not have to work for anything.  And then these low lifes breed more just like themselves.

There was a definite reason for the attack in Chattanooga... It was an extremist Muslim terrorist attack.  ISIS has been calling for "homegrown" terrorists to specifically target military installations. The attacker had made a few trips out of country to Middle Eastern countries that have been known to house terrorist organizations (eg Jordan and Yemen). And the gunman's own online postings mention doing things for the glory of Allah.

When you also consider that the Iranian nuclear proposal will remove sanctions against conventional weapons, and that Iran is the largest state sponsor of terrorism, I just fear that if this proposal goes through that there will be more attacks like this.

BINGO!!!  Sorry to say because I know there are people here that will not like it, but it's time to start PROFILING again.  This country has gone so "politically correct," it's imploding.  There ARE certain people who commit "terrorist attacks" and these ARE the ones that need watched.

Blacksheepny- And the funny thing is when these people who are so anti-gun are in trouble - who do they call?  Someone with a gun.  And if you have watched the news lately you certainly know that there are a lot of corrupt cops out there.  The criminals will always have guns.  They are not going to turn them in because the law says to.  If they were known for obeying the law they would not be criminals.  I don't think there is any fixing how screwed up this country is.

You want to stop these mass shootings- Take the perp outside as soon as you catch him and hang him from a strong tree.  Leave his body hanging there for the vulchers to munch on for a couple of days.  Then throw what is left out of a plane in the wilderness for the wild animals to eat.  Do it every time.  If you KNOW the end result then maybe you will think twice about the crime.

It's like the gjighaih that shot up that movie theater.  He does not deny doing it.  But his lawyer said he was temp insane at the time and could not distinguish right from wrong.  Well tough luck.  Funny how you are sane now.  But people know the most they will get for their crimes is a free ride the rest of their life.

Virginia Tech and Columbine were the worst. These men wear the uniform and know they are in the line of fire. Still sad nevetheless.

The one thing all of these "mass" shootings have in common? They happened in places where it was illegal to possess a gun. Or as My retired (no such thing as ex) Marine friend says, they happened in a target rich area with no defense.
