I think that everyone is entitled to their beliefs. I also believe that Kim Davis should have asked to transfer to another position as she was no longer in a position (due to her beliefs) to conduct the duties of her job. Government, companies, corporate America is constantly changing and if am employee is unable to conduct the duties required by their job they need to look for another position with the corporation, another corporation, or quit and file for unemployment due to the change created by the job versus her inability to perform the newly mandated duties. I do not know the details behind her arrest so I can cot pass comment. I can comment on the public spectacle created by this: it is ridiculous.

I guess I think that if your job is requiring you to do something you are convicted against and it is hurting you to do it, you need to find another job. The world is changing, not necessarily for good~but if the laws of the land change and you do not, maybe a compromise can occur within/like someone else can do that job, or you may need to get another job. Think of doctors who are being told they have to do an abortion~I WOULD NOT do that....as I feel as though I certainly, without a doubt, am murdering a human being! So, when you look at that, then I guess if the law says you must kill anyone over 90 and you worked at that place all your life, would you start killing them because the law says so.........?

I have never heard of a doctor being forced to do an abortion.

Is it really comprising her beliefs to issue a gay marriage license? It's a simply a legal document. Even if she is against gay marriage, isn't the ones who are getting married committing the sin?

I see two sides to this. I am very proud for her standing up for her religious beliefs but I also am conflicted when there is a law that she has broken or not complied with. I tend to be more proud of her standing up than sad about the other. But I think there may have been another less publicized way to handle it.

I personally feel that she should have done the job she was elected to do ... If it compromised her beliefs then it was up to her to resign or ask for another position.

She was put in jail because she was did not follow the court order .. not because of her beliefs.

If you look at the bigger picture .. what if every elected official refused to do the job they were elected to do ...

No I am not gay or a gay rights advocate ... I'm just a citizen that believes in our judicial system and that our elected officials should do the job we elected them to do.

I am glad she was jailed she is working in a government office. church and state need to stay separate. If she feels that strongly she should not be working in that office and she should go work for a church where she can state her views.

They wouldn't be.  Doctors, like other people, have a choice in where they work. If they don't agree in what is being done then they would find a position somewhere else.  I wouldn't work somewhere that I felt compromised my beliefs. I would leave instead of thinking that everyone else should cater to me.

I actually don't feel sorry for her being jailed... Either she was an idiot for not quitting or finding a different job that didn't compromise her beliefs, or she knew what the consequences would be and purposefully chose to stay as a clerk and use her civil disobedience (and thus her imprisonment) as a way to draw attention to what she thought was a bad law. And it sounded more like she was upset with Kentucky law that required her signature (or rather the clerk's signature) on the marriage license than the ruling of SOCA to grant same-sex marriages. The Kentucky law made it her business to sanction something that she felt was morally wrong, whereas had she not needed to sign the licenses, she'd be more willing to comply with SOCA's ruling.

Well if she cant separate her job from her religion/belief then she needs a different job. Pretty soon the do you have anything against gays etc will be on our job applications. This is a nightmare waiting in the shadows.
