My grandson and sister are extremely lactose intolerant and being American Indian the rest of the family is sensitive.  We use Lactaid the taste is great, it tastes like milk because it is milk.  They also make cottage cheese and ice cream.  I am like you and like the family to drink milk, it is a little more expensive, but worth it to me.   Yoplait also makes a lactose free yogurt , it comes in a green container and usually is the same price as the other yogurt.     Bigpar31 you must just be sensitive, the ones in our family who are intolerant cannot keep it down, or anything with very much milk at all in it does not stay down.

Yes, I have a buddy who is. He drinks it anyway...all it does it give him gas.

My Tweety cat is lactose intolerant

My GF is extremely sensitive; although she can consume food with lactose, her stomach will start to act up if she consumes too much. She's tried drinking almond milk, but decided it tasted chalky and not similar to milk (which she likes to drink were it not for the lactose). I'm not sure if she's tried Lactaid, however; that might be a good replacement for her.

When I was in college, I participated in a study that the food science department was running to look at people that are lactose intolerant or sensitive. I didn't think I was lactose sensitive prior to the study, but they said that it is actually very common, but most people's sensitivities are so slight that they don't even realize that they are (which is what happened with me). Usually those with slight sensitivities may just have more gas (esp. burping) after drinking milk as in my case. But it's sad that other's sensitivities are much more severe than that.

I am sensitive to dairy myself...
I can tolerate less rich dairy products in larger amounts, or rich products in smaller amounts.
I hate it, because I love ice cream and cheese and alfredo sauce and cheesecake but my stomach does not.

I don't know anyone that is lactose intolerant but I thought they have products to help those who want to drink milk or eat ice cream

I'm dairy intolerant in general. A lot of people have some form of lactose intolerance. I actually love chocolate milk but I drink chocolate soy milk instead now. If I REALLY want something like ice cream I take a lactaid first. It only helps a little though since like I said I'm intolerant of dairy overall.

You can buy milk and dairy products for people who are lactose intolerant and some of the products are really good.

I have two buddies who are lactose nothing really change when we go out to hang and eat but I do rub it in there faces from time to time while eating a cheesecake etc.
